As a male, I am well accustomed to seeing all types of things written on the walls of the gents toilet, usually sexual comments, or insulting ones eg the toilet roll being referred to as a UCD degree. So this had me wondering, is there grafitti in the ladies' toilets as well?

Yes there is. It's mostly make-up and ironing tips and small hailkus about kittens and fluffy clouds.

Also the ladies toilets always smell like roses and they all have pillow fights in their underwear in there.

Yup. You see things like "Mark Surname has a huge cock" then under it you'll see things like "for a 2 yr old". Some of it is funny but most of it is crap like Jacinta 4 Anto 4eva

Depends where you are too. Public ones with local teens will have the obligatory "A.B 4 X.Y.Z 4eva!" ones. The uni toilets in UCC had everything from personal questions (often answered) to 'I hate Sociology' which seem unanimous among users of that paticular facility and a few 'I have no friends' comments. :rolleyes:

Yup, in UCD there's an arrow pointing to the toilet roll dispenser saying 'Arts Degrees, please take one'.

It annoys me terribly because I have an Arts Degree and I worked hard to get it. Sigh :rolleyes:

I've a mate in Computer Science and my bro is a PhD research student in Comp Sci - both guys laugh at my arts degree but admit they'd be incapable of completing my English/Philosophy course to a 1st Class Honors... er, degree. No pun intended.

I actually never saw any such comments about Arts degrees in UCC though, anywhere. Says a lot about UCC, I know, etc. Don't even bother.

Toilet graffiti in womens toilets make me cry.

Especially the long winded ones that describe how 'love' is and how great it is to be loved or some other stupid piffle. These are the ones that I tend to draw childish pictures of genitalia beside.

They're not exactly difficult courses to get into, and depending on subjects, not difficult degrees to acquire. I tend to find (in UCC anyway) that people majoring in English in Arts are treated more leniently as they often go on to do teaching and so on through post-grads and the like.

Because I would imagine that of the people who complete a BA, Statistically less of them use their qualification as a basis for or even part of a career compared to other third level qualifications.

To some people that might convey that a lot of people doing an arts degree don't take it seriously themselves.
So why should they?

They do tend to have a reputation for just being "I want to have the college lifestyle but don't actually know what I want to learn yet" courses.

If I remember correctly there were in and around five points in the difference between the requirements for Nursing and the requirements for Arts the year I chose what course I wanted. (I could be wrong though and am open to correction)

I did English in my degree and if you want to do well and get any further than a 'pass' then you need to work hard. I think anyone can pass any course by doing the bare minimum required work but people need to keep in mind that there are many, many intelligent people who choose Arts despite having the points to do something else. It really annoys me when I see comments such as 'Arts lol' tarring the degree as a joke. :mad:

I was once in the (gents) toilets in Glasgow Prestwick airport in a cubicle, and on the bottom of the door (just above the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor) somebody had written, "Beware of limbo dancers".

I laughed out loud anyway!

To the bolded point - really? It was 325 or something silly the year I did it. And don't get me wrong - I'm not knocking Arts at all, and I hate being judged badly on having an Arts degree. All I'm saying is people think it's easy because most people who do em come out with the degree and people overlook the level of the degree because of that.

I did Arts because I wanted to study English, and accidentally found a passionate love for Philosophy. I now want to study a Philosophy Masters, so I joined that facebook group called, 'I picked a major I liked and will one day be living in a cardboard box.'
