Is anyone else having a problem with CBS Reality? The other CBS and Zone channels are fine, but for the last few days now I've had Medical Detectives ruined because the channel keeps disappearing. Just seems to happen randomly..bang, 'no signal'. What's going on?

I've had these symptoms but with the CBS Action channel. I can't say for sure that the Reality channel wasn't affected, but it was working while the Action channel wasn't. It wasn't raining at the time.

I didn't experiment properly to see what the signal readings were at the time as I rarely watch the Zone/CBS channels. I see that it's working for me right now.
Anyone else notice anything with these channels recently?
I think these channels are all on different transponders from the Eurobird1 satellite.

CBS Reality is on a very weak transponder .

PQ of Moonlighting on CBS Drama last night was dreadful.

I found this article on the phenomenon called "night dimming" which may be relevant (although specifically it talks about it in relation to reception of BBC and ITV from Astra 2D in Spain).

    http://www.visionsatellites.biz/Night%20Dimming.html
Night Dimming [...] is the technical term given to the drop in signal strengths in the late evening, normally around 9pm, which is manifested by a noticeable reduction in picture quality on weak channels [...] resulting in break-up and pixelation or even total loss of the picture altogether. It normally lasts just over an hour before returning to normal.

The reason is that at this time of night the satellites in the Astra 2 group start to move into the outside edge of the earth's shadow known as the Penumbra and as they do the output of the satellites is slightly reduced.

As the solar panels that give the satellites power during the day are now not receiving any light from the Sun the satellites switch onto their back-up batteries to maintain the satellite signal. When the batteries are fired up the signal returns to normal. This tiny drop in power is enough to cause signal loss in fringe areas.
