Grants for Access Courses?

Hi there, I've used the search function but couldn't find what I'm looking for so I'm wondering if anyone can help me out.

I'm trying to figure out if I qualify for any kind of financial assistance for going back to college to to an Access course.

I'm planning on doing an Access course in the Royal Irish Acadmey of Music next September with a view to doing a Postgraduate course in the future.

I'm 26 years old and already have a BA (but not in music). I had planned to go on and do a masters that would allow me to move upwards in my job as a library assistant, but over the last year or so I've realised that it's not actually what I want to do. What I really want to do is study music!

I'm currently in full time employment and am getting married next year. It is perhaps a crazy thing to do in these recessionary times, but I need to at least try it so I don't regret it and if I leave it too long it will be too late.

I've been looking around for a good while for information but am finding it very difficult, so perhaps there is nothing out there for this kind of course?

If anyone has any information or any helpful websites (apart from the usual studentfinance.ie and the government site for Higher Education grants) I would really appreciate it :)

I can't help you i'm afraid, but at least you know someone is reading your post :) perhaps ring the grants office and as directly which courses are available, you should find them with your local VEC.

Access courses aren't covered by the grant I'm afraid.

And aside from the grant there isn't much in the way of support either. Just what is listed on studentfinances.ie.
