The 50% sale is normally straight after Christmas. Get there early!

Eh no. One day I refuse to shop at. Family make enough sacrafices nevermind going runner shopping on Stephens day.

haha, for once I'm in total agreement with Tunney! I'll be too busy watching Miracle on 34th Street...

but alas some day I'll probably meander along, though not until I've finished off my fair share of selection boxes.

Had a laugh at last years sale. When the doors opened people running as if Arnotts were giving the stuff away ! Some guy slipped and slid into a rack of clothes , got up and slipped again:D

Was there at approx 10:30. Was all a bit mad. It was bad enough around the running section with all us runners looking for bargains but with thousands of screaming teenagers there to see Jedward it was uncomfortable. No Asics Nimbus left so I left.

Ended up getting NB 1061 in Elverys in Clearys for €60. Delighted with these as my previous pair cost approx €100.

Despite an accepted online order yesterday for 2 pairs of 2140s I got an email to say that they are out of stock and my order can't be fulfilled.:mad::mad: If they weren't in stock they shouldn't have taken the order. Not impressed.

Arnotts sale was a disaster. Got there soon after ten. They obviously had very limited stock and the reductions weren't as good as previous years. I came away empty handed although my daughter got a pair of nimbus for 84 euro.
As for Jedward......What a wonderful use of taxpayers money to see 4 gardai in the shop patrolling the masses of screaming girls. We are obviously a crime free country when resources can be used in this manner.

From what I've been told. Asics has moved their operation from Dublin (Sandyford) to the UK. As a result there is no longer the deals on Asics runners that used to be avaialbe around this time of year.

They would have a bit of discount but nothing like you could get in previous years. My friend went in really early for Kayanos in uk10 but they didn't have any

Lifestyle have a reasonable sales off selected models - most of the Ascis and Adidas range as far as I could see, was in the one in D'Laoire, tried to get a pair of 2140's but only had a 6 and an 8, so settled for a pair of Adidas Zillian - after a quick google I was sold on the marketing blub :D.

Picked up another fine pair of 1061's in Elvery's in Dundrum today (60 yoyos), with the exception of a pair of lightweights for 5k to HM races, I'm sorted for 2010, unless I come across any bargins of course ;).

Stopped by Arnotts in Stillorgan today and miraculously they's one pair of size 9s 2140s in stock. 66 yoyos. Got a laugh there when I got a text from a pal who'd ordered online from Arnotts just before me, opened the box to see my name on the pair of runners! They'd emailed me to say they'd no stock. Shaggers

Don't believe so strongly you need to get there first. Last year I went to the Arnott's sales looking for a particular model of Asics (don't remember which one now)

The thing is, I went the week the sales started to be told the didn't have my number (EUR 44.5, pretty common). I went back one week later, and later, and later...to actually find my number around Jan 15th-20th, still 50% off.

I think they may have some stock there and they bring more from a deposit when they run out. Also, later in the sales, when the madness is gone, employees feel more like checking sizes.

Went into Arnotts today to check what price the Kayano 16s were, they were €140 before the Christmas and was told there would generally be 30% off in the sales.
I was told today there was no reduction in the Kayano 16s as they were current stock so still €140, pissed off. Then asked about the Kayano 15s and was told they were completely sold out in the sales as they only had about 14 pairs of them and most of those were bought by staff. In fairness to the girl serving she was very helpful and said that Champion Sports were selling them for less than 140.
Went to Champions then to check to see them reduced from 140 to 125 in the sales, poor form Arnotts, I'd always heard your sales were great for running shoes.
So any anyone advise if they've seen the Kayano's cheaper elsewhere in the sales? I can get them online for around 122 delivered and the Kayano 15s for a good bit less.

The 16s were at €120 in Champion in Tallaght the last time I checked, 15s were €99 but they only had up to a 6 in womens sizes.

    As Daveyrovers said,
Asics are now owned by the UK and the current Kayano 16's woul be from the UK.
The older models from the Irish Warehouse so hence no reduction.
Champion 120euros and Elverys 15% off all Asics so the Kayanos woul be 119.
Just a note that the new Kinsei 3's are amazing(136euros) 65grams lighter and a guidance line on the forefoot.

Unlike most things at the moment running is so popular an shops aren't going to reduce stock just for the sake of it.

As I mentioned in the little JJB thread, I turned up a day or two afterwards with no intention of buying anything but saw a box of Asics Nimbus 11s sitting on the ground in my size, there was no mark down on the box so I brought them to the counter, the girl said I could have them for €57 so I wasn't going to leave them behind at that price.

Is that the same JJB that had a series of closing down sales last year?
