I've only recently begun to appreciate how much fun a truly awful, cringe-inducing film can be. I'm working my way through some stinkers, and think it'd be fun to share some memories and clips of truly shocking, awful but hilarious movies. I'll kick off with the highlights of that Nick Cage remake of The Wicker Man... My jaw was on the floor watching this.

Christ, the scene where he's yelling "Ahhh not the bees, not the bees, they're in my eyes, they're in my eyes!" is like something from a parody.

The mind boggles at how stuff like this makes it past studio executives, the director, the editor....

for me it's a toss up between him punching the kindly looking middle-aged lady right in the face and the totally unnecessary 'bear suit' punch. That or 'how did it burn!'.

Even though The Room might be objectively worse, that was created by one nutter with a lot of money. Quite how so many people thought this was actually worth releasing will always be a mystery.

The Batgang's costume change which happened for no reason whatsoever in Batman & Robin

    Batman-and-Robin.jpg

    to

    batman-and-robin-6.jpg

this. They didn't even try to explain why, when they realised Mr.Freeze wanted to freeze the whole of Gotham City, and they needed to stop him quick, they decided to go back to the Batcave get in their new vehicles (because the Batmobile obviously handles poorly in icy conditions, and Batman never thought of upgrading it seeing as how he was fighting a guy who likes to Freeze things), that, I can almost forgive. but to change into these costumes which gave no benefit whatsoever.

Even if they were some sort of thermal suits to help keep them warm against Mr.Freeze, what about the masks? Batgirl and Robin both changed to silver masks, because black masks with those suits would throw off the whole colour co-ordination. And the only benefit of those masks would be if they gave higher thermal protection... to their eyebrows. Batgirl even has a full head mask with cowls like Batman, but when they get closer to danger, she pulls it off and casually tosses it aside. What was the point of wearing it? And the bits that stick out from the arms on Batgirl are a different colour. Why? Well, so as they match Batmans knuckles of course!

As bad as the whole film was (and I recently watched it on Bluray, so its really bad), this just took the piss. it was painfully obvious, that the only reason this was done was to sell more action figures. They didn't even care about trying to explain it. Just "yeah, have them in different outfits for the end. Why? Cos I'm Joel ****ing Schumacher! AND DON'T FORGET THE NIPPLES! Except on Batgirl, women don't need nipples"

There are some true gems in there.

    "Get off the bike...."
Woman hesitates to get off her bike.
    "Get off the bike...."
Woman tries to get past psycho Nick.
Nick pulls gun on her. "STEP AWAY FROM THE BIKE!!!!"
Nick cycles away on her bike, wobbling quite badly.

"This is murder! Murder! You'll all be guilty, and you're doing it for nothing! Killing me won't bring back your goddamn honey!"

And the wonderful habit he has of describing exactly what's happening to him: [we hear his legs being broken] "Ahhh, my legs!"

I think it may be the worst "big budget" movie I've ever seen. Sure, there have been a lot of turkeys that had big money behind them, but some of the stuff in the script is so shockingly amateur.

Can't believe nobody mentioned this gem. Mikey Graham's film debut. The greatest Martial arts film ever made on these shores... Fatal Deviation

Simple really, cause kids buying two different costumes to dress up in, two different sets of accessories and two different Batman figures is far more profitable than one! God bless Capitalism!

I normally dislike the whole so-bad-it's-good thing, when there are so many so-good-it's-great films I haven't seen yet. But looking at those clips, I think the 400 Blows may have to wait another week. Hilarious.

The recent re-make of Friday The 13th was one of the defo ''so bad it's good'' movies.

With lines like "Your tits are stupendous" and a person getting nailed in the back from 60 yards with a thrown axe... yeah, it's always gonna be so bad it's good. :D

or maybe not... so bad it's bad. much better!:D

Ah, love these type of threads:

Turkish Superman, complete with creepy theme tune, awful green screen and the best bitch-slapper ever. (Especially at 1:23)

Turkish Star Wars, this is just fùckin' demented.

    Turkish Rambo

    Turkish E.T., genuinely disturbing

Another version of the Turkish Star Wars movie. Man this really was made with a budget to match a packet of crisps.

Turkish Evil Spiderman versus Captain America? This doesn't make any sense, but Spiderman is a pretty sick bastard!

    Ninja Squad, quality acting!

Heh, all these movies just make me want to whip out the NES and get crackin' on some quality beat 'em ups like Double Dragon :D

Jesus, I just watched that wicker man clip. thats the hardest i've laughed in a while. I love the comments on IMDB - '10/10 Best Comedy in Years'

Lol at Cage making a getaway on the wobbly bike.

I have to rent this movie

Just have to add Infested this is just hilariously bad... it stared Zach Galligan (better known for his dealings with Gremlins) and was just the funniest film I have seen in ages.. about killer flies that 'eat their victims from the inside out'... brilliant - and the way to kill them?
playing the song Da Da Da Da by Trio... seriously!!
    :D

And I will definitely be renting Wicker Man!..

    Good thread.

Watching a film that's so bad it's good is almost as rewarding as watching a great film. It truly is the purest form of perverse art if the film is horrendous to a delirious and emotional degree.

This must be one of the greatest endings to a movie ever:

I would include Spiderman 3 in this category. Before you start throwing things remember the bizarre dancing scene? Or when after his transformation he simply had a new hair style and some mascara. A shocking film in every respect. It wasn't fun though.

So the dancing and mascara did actually happen! I thought I was remembering the movie wrong, or mixing it up with a parody... but I wasn't willing to actually watch it again to confirm as I definitely remember it was shyte.

I must be the only person who found these bizarre scenes the only entertaining bits in the whole movie.

i remember him taking the rap for burying the franchise in interviews afterwards when he was the only ****ing good thing IN the film .

im thinking here of the scenes with alfred when it was obivous he was sick.

not enough to save that god awfull trainwreck but shucmacker arnie and thurman were more to blame than him.

on the wicker man "bees!" bit, im in bits in work now with laughter and half the buildings looking at me :):)

I've often thought it to throw in something made for buttons with something with millions behind it. There needs to be a handicap system whereby a low budget counters crapness points.....
