Weird Collecting Hobbies.....

Ok the game is up. Time to confess all. What collecting hobbies have you secretly been engaged in over the years that you wouldn't openly admit to?

As a kid I used to collect stamps lime many of my era. However I never completely shook off childhood and have collected my tinplate and diecast toys in my adult years than I ever did as a child. I drives my wife nuts. Mind you for years she collected ornamental chickens.

I have one son who got tired trying to fill in blanks in a teddy bear collection that he and his partner now make their own teddies to classic designs. My second son collects old tools and his wife collects Victorian beer and mineral water bottles.

I also have a neighbour who collects 1960s 'kipper ties.'

I used to collect Hasbro My Little Ponies. I never had any as a child and when I discovered there's a massive market for them on ebay, I went and bought all my old favourites, as well as some rare ones. I had a Brazillian Baby Gusty made by Estrella. It cost me about €140, and I later sold it for the bones of €200.

I ended up selling the entire collection within a year as I was in college and needed food more than ponies.

Now I collect old books, but that's not really weird. Or if it is, the world has no taste.

Hi Roz. My daughter in law who lives in New Zealand was starved of M Little Pony's as a kid and when she came to Europe (now in her 30s) she amassed a huge collection. I guess when you start collecting to sell it isn't so much a hobby anymore as a business.

I fogot to mention that my number one son collects old computers right back to the first Sinclair, Apple and Commodore. They are still in my attic while he now lives in Oxford!!! Ummm E-bay, now there is a thought!

I didn't originally buy them to sell them again, I just ended up with no choice as I needed money and knew my 45 or so ponies were worth hundreds.

    I collect.......

    Pizza menus
    Oil cans
    Road maps
    Nightlights.

I also like to hide what I really collect in the first letters of each false item I mention.

I collect shot glasses from every different country I go to. I also have built up a collection, which is stuck onto 2 full walls of my room, of road signs, posters, postcards and tickets etc. robbed from loads of places.

I collect 1 and 2 euro coins from each country. I nearly have one from each country excluding the Vatican City and Finland, although there are multiple special coins from each country that i have yet to get my hands on. Still trying to get one of those stickman coins at the moment.

I do that too, I have most the tickets I got when traveling. But it's more a case I can't bring myself to throw them out rather than wanting to hold onto all that much.

Not sure if there is a single euro version. A friend got one twice and he knew i was looking for it, but he spent them cause he was fairly broke at the time. Bastard! :)

Heh, yeah, i remember i first heard about it on the radio, nobobdy would believe me that they existed for ages. Seemingly some artsy fartsy sculptor came up with the design.
