Provisional Rankings After UK C'ships

The new provisional ranking list updated after last night's final has been published, there has been no change in the top four places, it sees runner-up John Higgins stay at number one with O' Sullivan at two.Neil Robertson is three and Shaun Murphy is fourth.Winner Ding is up to sixth with the other semi finalist Maguire up to seventh.

Ken Doherty has managed to get himself back into the top 32 and is placed at 31, he will be happy with that especially after starting the season in 55th place and not qualifying for the televised stages of the UK C'ships.

Jungle man Jimmy White has just about managed to stay in the top 64 and lies at 62nd place.

Next up for most of the top players are a couple of 'new' tournaments to the circuit in the form of the World Six Red tournament in Killarney that starts this tues and following that next week there is the 'ONEFOURSEVEN' event in Cardiff involving 16 players in a round robin style event.

After that and christmas it's off to Wembley for the Masters (one of my favourites) and that kicks off Jan 10th. This event along with the Six Red and 'ONEFOURSEVEN' are non ranking events. The next ranking tournament is the Welsh Open which starts Jan 25th.

This is the fourth out of six ranking events to be held this season but now that Barry Hearn is on board and due to be confirmed as chairman of the WSA this wed the future of the game and indeed an increase in the number of ranking events looks assured.:)
