have tried Fn7 but keep getting asked do i want to turn on Caret browsing when i press it So how can i brighten the screen as its like reading through layers of net curtains - vv dim thanks

Have you tried function and hitting the up arrow?

You do know that you have to press the fn key plus another key to up the brightness? It's usually fn + up arrow, although some laptops differ.
