For xmas day I'm looking to buy a couple of bags of Cafetiere Grind for some friends and family who won't have a grinder or espresso machine available to them. What recommendations would ye have for the best Cafetiere/French Press bean you have tried of late? The El Salvador https://www.hasbean.co.uk/products/El-Salvador-Finca-Los-Amates-Bourbon-Cup-of-Excellence-2009-.html sounds great but couldn't find any comments from French Press users.

    All suggestions welcome

At the moment I'm very much enjoying

Honduras Sesesmile - Nelson Guerra Cup of Excellence

from the plunger pot. On the other hand

    Kenya Kirigu 2009-2010

just tastes too much like oranges and not enough like coffee!

Other recent plunger pot successes were

Ethiopia Zege Lake Tana Natural 2009-2010

    and

Ethiopia Wild Bonga Forest 2009-2010 Crop

the last also as espresso, but note that Slaphead07 didn't care for it, so maybe it's just me!

I came to love it! It is a bit different but it grows on you. I miss it now.

It is definitely different, but well worth a try. I'll be including it in my next order!

I've been drinking the Hasbean Christmas Blend and have quite enjoyed it. It comes in two forms - filter and espresso blends. I brewed mine with a french press and was pleased with the result. Nice with a bit of warm milk. (The espresso blend has been nice too).

I happened to email the roaster, Stephen Leighton, and he said he'd be drinking this blend on Christmas Day.....but I guess he would!

You'll want to put an order in soon. The site says Royal Mail guaranteed delivery for Christmas deadline was on shipment on 11th. For what it's worth, I placed my last order on a Tuesday using Royal Mail and I had the beans in Dublin (roasted on that Tue) by Friday morning.

The only problem you might have is that this special blend only comes in beans. Won't be ground for you.

Was very tempted to go for this, but wasn't sure as I'm a girl who likes chocolately coffees :D What's the acidity like??

As I recall it was quite mild. I think the milk will give you some of that chocolatey taste. Failing that...what girl doesn't like some Green & Black's with a good cup of coffee???;)
