Half price ESPN

Received a letter saying that ESPN is half price for 3 months as long as you sign up before 16 December 2009.

When I ring they seem to know nothing about it and am being bounded around from phone number to number. Absolutely sickening stuff.

One woman claimed she set me up only to tell me eventually I'd be paying the full price of €12 per month.

After ringing up yet another number I was given I was further told the offer wasn't coming up on their screen and they're was nothing they could do.

Anyone know the best email address I could complain too in regards this offer ?

Same here, rang up for the offer and was told €12 a month or nothing!

Is this some sort of a bull**** plan by Sky to try to get people onto the full 12 Euro per month ESPN subscription ?

I've sent an email of complaint on the Sky website but I feel I'm doing little more than pissing into the wind.

Isn't the full price €15 euro or something like that?

    I believe its €12.

I rang up again and now they are telling me to send the letter to Livingstone in Scotland with a covering letter detailing the situation. THis is a complete load of bull****.

Most of the people I rang couldn't give a flying **** and basically told me to go away.

Exact same letter. I'll keep a photocopy of the letter and then post it to Scotland.

I'll ask them to email me upon receipt of letter.

I have the awful feeling they will "lose" this letter.

Anyone tell me what I should do ?

It was end of november when i was ordering the hd box,i asked them had they any other offers for me and he said i could have espn for half price for 3 months. How long are you with sky as my sis wanted to update to just a sky+ box and was told she would half to pay over €200,so i told her to phone them again and tell them she was canceling it and hey presto she is getting the box for free on wednesday and no install charge either. The feckers charged me €40 for the hd box to be put in and all has to be done is switch the wires from my + box a 5 minute job and i am with sky since day 1.

I am not condoning the €40 but to change the couple of wires required someone to go to your home and do it. That's not cheap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 622 ✭✭✭irishtoffee

Don't need to change any wires just plug them out of my +box and into the hd box? Not sure what you mean Mossy?

Somebody had to drive to your home in a van. That costs money. You are also paying for the man to change the box.

On page 44 of today's Irish Sun there is a promo offering half price ESPN upgrade for 'every' reader for 3 months. Call 0818 762851 and quote ESPN Sun Reader Offer. So I would imagine the call staff will have been briefed about this now, offer closes Dec 19.

I got a similar letter from Sky about 3 weeks ago. Rang up but was told that they'd accidentally sent too many letters and only certain people were actually eligible - apparently most people weren't eligible. Surprise, surprise, I wasn't eligible.

At the time I thought it might be a scam, where people ring to avail of the offer, find they can't get it, but upgrade anyway at full price. I don't really understand why they were so restrictive about it yet anyone who reads the Sun can get it now?

Is there any option for NTL/Chorus users???

    Unlikely.

Cheers for the heads up. I'm guessing there's no number or anything I need to quote ?

Will give it a try later. I wouldn't be suprised though if they can't do anything for me again but want me to subscribe at full price.

Mark Deering is head of Sky Ireland. I suggest you bring it to his attention first. Its false avertising. It also bad PR to offer this to customers and then try and get out of it with shoddy excuses.

If you have no luck, lodge a complaint with http:\\www.asai.ie .

Still no joy, well being a paying customer you alway can vote with the oul 1s and 2s.

Used that Sun promotion and it worked.

I still have to check on the sky box at home though. I hope they didn't just give me ESPN without ESPN America for instance.

anyone know if that Sun offer applies to existing ESPN customers?

How much does ESPN work out at then if you've already got sky sports with this offer?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,044 ✭✭✭AugustusMaximus

Just to say that all ESPN channels are now working fine.

    Thanks again VERYinterested

Has anyone got a price for Espn?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,044 ✭✭✭AugustusMaximus

€6 per month with the offer if you have Sky Sports. Fairly good offer IMO. I'd pay that for UFC alone.
