Hi I was wondering does anyone know if Lidls stat box being released tomorrow is freesat? I have a humax freesat box in my living room but wouldn't mind a simple box for the bed room

    thanks

It is a free to air box, that is intended for the 19.2E sat, not Freesat. The epg will only work with 19.2E. It is not HD, or at least it makes no claim to be HD.

It will get all the BBC. ITV, etc channels, but no EPG.

It connects to the telly. It is an alternative to Scart, and is a higher quality connector, and is more modern. I do not think it upscales the output. It looks like it is a COMAG SL45.

    Note Maplin's price - £39

I know what hdmi is, lol.

I meant, what use is it on a machine that seemingly only does SD.
Upscaled FTA viewing on your HDTV.............., doesn't seem worth it.

Though I feel people will buy these boxes believing them to be HD, and they should be clearly labelled as std definition, I welcome the move to HDMI over scart for the simple reason that is much more likely to stay in place than a scart cable.
I am fed up with doing call outs that sometimes involve traversing the county to push a scart lead back in.
Scart is crap design and should have been ditched years ago.
