Alloy wheel refurb - Chrome

Need a hand here, have tried all the usual places to get my wheels fully refurbished.

As per the pic they are a set of BBS OEMs. However they are starting to peel laqure (sp?) I've rang dublin powder coating and they cannot do it, also have called the place in bray and they told me its near impossible to get a colour match to these wheels.

At this stage im seriously thinking of going back to SEAT about it as they are seriously starting to corrode badly even though I bought the car second hand over two years ago.

I think the wear is excessive has anyone heard of break fluid leaking, someone suggested this but I dunno all levels are grand..

This is them in the former glory.

I've got a set of 16s at the moment so its a good time to get this done right, as they're sitting in the shed.

You would have no chance with Seat seeing as you bought it second hand more than 2 year ago unless its such a known problem that they are replacing them all over the place.

I know what you mean about seat, but I would ask them for half anyway, no harm.

Nu-Luk wheels in the north may be able to do something for you but they are very expensive. If they are genuine BBS wheels and not cheaper replicas (low quality), it is possible the person before you may have cleaned the rims with acidic based wheel cleaners. This will either damage them directly (if used too often) or leave them more exposed to degradation over time (if not).

sounds like you used wheel cleaner on them! Although i had to get my leon wheels re-done at three years old. The factory finish was woeful. I emailed seat last week when my gearbox died a death. Haven't heard a word even when i made it clear i didnt expect anything. If you go on seatcupra.net you'll know dave from sere motors no doubt. With his prices he may well be cheaper than getting them re-done in chrome. If you're not on pm me a part number and ill get a price for you

the only thing i used on them was WD-40? yeah i'll check out seatcupra.net have an old username from there.

Same thing happened to the bbs polished and laqured wheels on aniversary golf gti's. There was a known issue and wheels were replaced under warranty.

Right, I've stuck these alloys up for sale on adverts very reluctantly, if theres anyone out there who's familiar with repairing them please have a look, the DIY'ER in me says a sand and paint might do the trick but anyone think they are fubared.

Hmmm...depending on a few things I may be interested early in new year. Powder coat them grey maybe...
