Has anyone tried to make these?

Im just wondering cos the PVC piping in woodies doesn't seem like it would bear weight too well.

Any one have any suggestions or experience?

I've made a few sets and find they begin bend as they heat up so holding anything for a long time you generally end up with your knuckles on the floor but you can put a a wood rod about the same diameter of the of the hand pipe and it'll stop the bending.

The thickness of the piping we use here for waste water is crap (well it's perfect for waste water) compared with what they use in the states.

What you're looking for is some schedule 40 PVC piping. I looked around for a day amongst several different places (plumbing wholesalers and a piping manufacturer) and couldn't find anybody who knew what I was on about. It's a more commonly used standard for metal pipes really. Maybe build the things out of metal? I know it's more expensive but that, apart from wood or filling the cheap PVC with concrete, was the only other idea I had for it.

You can get other tubing other than PVC, some guy posted in this forum a year or so ago making gymnastic rings and he had bought PP pipes and had difficulty bending them since it softens at a higher temp than PVC. The "schedule" thing might be specific to the US, I would just ask for the thickest they have, and heat resistant ones. I expect ones for hot water might be both thicker and PP.

Will pushup stands not do the job? I have small wooden crates I can put mine on to raise them higher.

    Maybe,

I want them for L-sits, and maybe Handstands etc.
A plumber mate of mine said that PVC is very brittle when it gets cold.

If its just for l-sits and handstands its much better to work them on the floor so you're able to do them anywhere plus handstand on the floor is a different skill to one on bars.

    I can't get L-sits on the floor.
It seems my arse is too big.

And handstands on the floor are great and all, but I'd like to work up to HSPU's and Parallettes will allow me to get the full ROM.

For the l-sits, i f*cken hate that word by the by, your arse isn'ttoo big you need to push your hips forward more and lift your pelvis more, ie more ab strength you can go back to the tucked version and work on lifting your knees as high as possible.

Personally i think if your not planning on doing paralette specfic work normal pressup stands will work for your needs.

    Right, cheers.

I am still working the progression. The tuck sit is where the problem is, but I give it a try.

I suspect that I can make Parallettes cheaper than buy Pushup stands.
And I'm all for cheap options, unless you can suggest somewhere I can get them for €10 or under.

    Hi d'Oracle

Do you have a set of dumbbells available to you? If so you have ready made push-up stands. If you need to stabilise them, then just sit each dumbbell on a folded towel :)

    Cheap and Cheerful ;)

    Best Regards,

    M

    Thinks M.
    I will try.

I'm not sure I trust them for when I get my Handstand Pushup.
