Help choosing new 'used' car required

Can anyone recommend a used car that's less bland than your normal run-of-the-mill type; something a bit 'snazzy'? Which? featured the VW Scirocco in this weeks newsletter which may be an option, especially the diesel option.

Any suggestions - not a Ferrari or similar - just something a bit different for a (possible) mid-life-crisis.

Thanks - meant to say that it must be a 4-5 seater so MX-5 is out otherwise this would be my first choice.

Mini Cooper S? They are great craic, but those who don't see that might think your crisis was more, ahem, serious than it is?

Cramped in the back, def not a five seater and doubt 4 average sized adults would be comfy for very long, but the Clubman version would probably be equivalent to the RX-8 seating wise?

Golf GTI's are going for a song these days, 14-17k would get you any '06 or '07
