Dreambox 800 vs Sky HD

    My Sky HD box is on the way out and I need to replace it. I am looing into getting a Dreambox 800 HD/PVR but I am wondering if anyone knows if this will read the new white sky cards, for certain? Also, does anyone know how the EPG/Planner will differ from the Sky one. Does it even come with such apps or will I need to install one myself?

    Has anyone tried building one of these themselves on an Intel based system? I am toying with this but I would imagine I would have to recompile for this.

    Any sites, links or info would be great.

    It will work with a Sky White card with some configuration.

    Also, the dreambox 8000 will keep the card alive, I don't think PC based systems can do that.

    The EPGs that come on the dreamboxes are not as good as the sky one but you there are several plugins you can get to improve it.

    Will work with the white card. But you will have to know you linux to get it configured.

    The EPG on the 800 is very good .
    It has a 7 day epg incorporated in alot of the images and I prefer it to the Sky EPG.
    You can arrange the channels in whatever order you wish,add channels not on the Sky EPG (ITV2,Five etc ) and delete the garbage channels.
