Getting SKY+ as a gift!?

    hey im thinkin about gettin sky + as a present to the folks for xmas, solves all the hassle of going out n buyin them stuff they dont need!
    Now the prob im havin is I can only afford a few of the entertainment packages and none of the sports (which they never will use anyway!) but the prob is, the 12 month contract! Can you get a 6mth contract? cause I couldnt afford a 12 month one!
    any help wud be grateful

    Do they have Sky now, or are they new customers.

    You have to sign a 12 month contract. The lowest package is €20 or somewhere around that figure.

    You don't have to pay it all up front so once the install is paid for then it's just whatever the package is per month.

    see i dont wanna be buyin into a contract for 12 months as I wouldnt be able to afford a 12mth contract but 6mths wud be perfect!

    You could ask your folks if they are interested in signing up themselves for the year and you will pay for the first 6 months - then do the donkey work for them with Sky. Failing that, you would do the signing up and then have to ask them for the last 6 months of payment :o

    Ask them if they even want it first!

    If they currently have RTE, etc, then they'd get loads of extra channels via a freesat system, without being tied in to paying €20 per month forever.
