Its not really a imitation of Top Gear is it.

The little I saw in the trailer makes it look like more a motoring show rather than a Top Gear imitation.

No, I only saw the advert for it. I just thought it looked more like a motoring show than an entertainment show.

There's a Television forum here as well, which might be better suited for this?

Can i move this thread? I guess i just wanted a rant about those wooden presenters.. How are they getting the funding for this..

Yeah, I saw it advertised last week and tuned in. It was bad. If the presenters cut out the attempted light entertainment and focussed on the cars it might be okay. Maybe they will improve with more experience.

Agree GH, two presenters are seriously lacking and should just stop trying so hard.

Probably shouldn't not have referenced top gear.. just assumed from the little i watched.

    It's a great show. I like it (a lot).

    Orange pilled.

Irish version of Fifth Gear (AKA a motoring show) with some strange Top Gear type parts. It also airs on City Channel.

Had a look on the site there. Seems well produced but a few things annoy the piss out of me to an extent that I won't watch it:

First the name. It's called "Xccelerate", which is a name you give to a show aimed at 15 year old Need for Speed fans who wear caps and realistically will never walk into a BMW showroom.... yet the show's production values and content caters to middle aged bankers.

Second, the hot blonde. Nice to look at, but she's there for the sake of it. She adds nothing to the show other then the fact that she's nice to look at. This takes away from the show content (the cars) and leaves the bloke with nothing to banter about. I've no issue with women being in shows like this, but she's clearly not there because she had car posters on her wall as a teenager. No, she's there because she's a well trained tv host and looks good.

I get it's not supposed to be top gear, it can't - it'd be destined to fail if it were, but with the money they're putting into the show they've made some critical mis-steps that ruins what could be quite a good, informative motoring show.

Also, TV3 have a real hard on for the "guy/girl" presenter team, which undoubtedly always fails in anything other then mid-afternoon programming.

I really would like this show to be good, but the producers are shooting themselves in the face. It's too severe to be the foot, y'see.

    Yes, TV3, if you're watching - I am available for hire :D

    +1

Caught this show a couple of times, and since I'm a car nut I stuck it out. He needs someone to compare dicks with about how much stuff he knows about cars. Car shows need male presenters for the same reason showbiz shows need female presenters.
