does anyone outthere know anything about these guys?

    http://www.createbikes.com/

do the bikes specs look good?

would love a fixie for the work commute, only 3kms and mostly flat.
    never used one though.

    thanks in advance

They're apparently so-so quality wise... it seems that they were rushed out the door to catch a trend, and so there were awful problems with shoddy workmanship and bits coming off etc. The latest ones are better from what I hear -some conversation on the matter here

They are otherwise/previously known as Unipacks and don't have a great reputation. Meant to be very heavy. Having said that I have no personal experience of them and suspect a lot of the fixie posers doing them down don't either.

Halfords have a singlespeed Carrera Subway for €249 that I think would be a better bet.

I've seen one or two around (always looked brand new, ie not ridden very much) and have to say they look ice-cold cool. I haven't been on one or inspected the bikes though. My feeling is that their function is almost purely aesthetic. If you're only commuting 3km, it could be an ok bike for the money.

Also, it's a tig-welded bike. If you read the posts by Dave Kirk (there's only two posts) it will give you more info. Note: Dave Kirk is a framebuilder from the USA who came on to boards.ie after building a bike for rottenhat -- here -- and is a total legend! (imo)
