Is this what DCU should be spending money on?...

agreed terrible costs involved but when someone takes a case against you, you cannot choose to not participate!

and if DCU won, their costs may have been awarded to the loser so they would not have paid. The harsh reality of the costs of being involved in litigation.

    1.2 million, what a joke.

Indeed, these are extortionate litigation costs, surprisingly though, DCU is not the biggest spender on legal fees which is UCC.
Industrial relations problems is rife throughout the university sector.

You asked a leading question which asserted that an incident occurred which could not be corroborated, and issued a personal insult which could potentially be seen as libelous by the person in question.

I presume I don't need to spell out to anybody else why it is important that this thread is kept tightly in check.

Id have to disagree with your reading of my post - he was quite eccentric - the guy taught one of the modules I took when at DCU - so its my own personal experience and opinion of him.

The "incident" was well know throughout the campus at the time - pretty much common knowledge to anyone who attended DCU.

Based on that info alone, and genuinely not knowing any incident, could I give a guess you did CA?

I heard about the incident too but I wasn't there and can't 100% confirm it happened. If I posted about it here, it would be heresy and I'd opening myself and the owners of boards.ie to a lawsuit if anyone involved took offence to me saying it in public. I like boards.ie and I'd like it to still be around in five years.

I'm not pointing fingers or even taking sides here but correct me if I'm wrong but when someone is found to be in fault over something don't they have to face the consequences, not a third party?
If that was the case I'd do all sorts and blame you cynical-ru, for no reason at all muhahahahaha

Not if accused of defamation (new combined name for libel and slander).
Anyone in the 'chain of repetition' can face whatever consequences may occur.

(Probably my most productive post ever- revising media law and clearing up a cloudy issue)

Since when am I in the chain of repetition?

If I'm to be punished for this do I get a free defamation?
