    Hi there,

Was wondering if anyone could help me. I am on Jobseekers, and I collect my payments on Wednesdays. This year I am due to collect this Wed, the 16th, then the 23rd and the 30th. Will I collect these payments as normal on these dates, or will I get a double payment on the 16th for Christmas? I have searched the SW website and they have no information up, and the SW office that I am with never answers the phone!

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

Hi. I am an old age pensioner, does the same apply to my pension ? .

    It should do.

My local post office has info about what dates are affected and what dates you should go in to collect your payments - I do believe it mentions pensions as well.

ya my dates are the same as yours and I think there is a double payment alrite next week as boozel has said there on a another post.

I was in Cork social welfare office today and was told next weeks payment will be "double", the following week as normal and then the eve of new years eve (30th) no payments will be available (hence the original double payment). Seems a bit bizarre to me but the guy double checked when I asked him if he was certain ...

What if u collect on Fridays? Will next week be treble? as the following weeks are Xmas day and new years day?!!!

No, you will get Christmas Days payment on the 18th and then New Years Days payment on the 29th/30th...

Are there no notices in your PO stating when to collect the Christmas payments??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,175 ✭✭✭Paulegend

best thing to do for all concerned is ask at the post office when your collecting your next payment. looks as if next week could be the double payment but seems confusing about when the next payment is. just ask to double check anyway. at least we know there is def a payment next week. sucks that there is no information released though because alot of us struggle as it is with the payment when we do get them.

In 'other payments' it talks about Monday and Tuesday 28th and 29th - is that for normal JSA and does it mean that the payment from New Years week will be paid out Christmas week on the 22nd and 23rd? And then is there no payment the week of the 28th? I don't find that clear at all. It says there's no payment for the week of the 22nd, but from what I can tell you still have to pick a payment up that week (for the following week) and the following week is the one with no payment?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 255 ✭✭Lemondrop kid

Traditionally JSA payments are as normal the week after xmas. Other payments refer to non-JSA/ extra benefits. All in all it tends to favour the recipient

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 530 ✭✭✭_Roz_

Oh okay so I'll get two payments this week, nothing the week after, and then normal on 28th. Cool. That actually works out better, as otherwise I'd be staying in Cork til the 22nd and I want to go hooooooome. Cheers.

OH, one more question please and thanks - if my double JSA gets paid out tomorrow, does the usual 'pick it up within three days' still apply? See I don't actually know if I get paid on Mondays or Tuesdays - when I was granted it I got two letters, one saying Mondays, one saying Tuesdays, and when I asked Social about it, they said 'that just means you can pick it up either day.' So usually I pick it up on Mon,Tues, or Weds, whenever I happen do be doing the weekly shop. So does that still apply, and if it's paid tomorrow will it hang til tuesday..? I'm way out in the suburbs and I get paid in the city centre (works out easiest) so I want to avoid a trip tomorrow if possible.

Yep thats it 2weeks pay this week the the regular 204 or whatever next week and no payments the following week. The week (3 from now) where you get nothing is included in this weeks payment.

    Hi there,

My husband collected his welfare today and got the extra week and was told to go back next wednesday(instead of his usual tuesday) to collect.Thats fair enough, granted but we are going home to my parents for christmas next tuesday night and i can't change flights as they were paid for by my parents. Anyway I was wondering if anybody knew if he could collect next wednesday's the following wednesday or would it go out of the system? And is it worth running it by the socail welfare or are we drawing trouble upon ourselves?
We are back home on the monday night but the post office will be closed until the wednesday.

    Can anyone help or advise?

kind of confused about payments. Got double payment today wednesday the lady in the PO said no payment next week. So does that mean I got in again on the 30th December to get another payment or do I wait until the following week ? the way I picked it up was there is no payment nxt week so therefore I would go in again on the 30th for another payment would dat be rite?

I collected my welfare this morning and got a double payment. Therefore I won't have any payment next Wednesday 23rd and the next payment I will be getting will be on the 30th December.

Unless I am totally wrong? :D

just checked the website and payments due the week after christmas will be payed next week, just go to welfare.ie and search Christmas payments to get you date according to your normal collection day

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,419 ✭✭✭tommy21

I asked in post office today, anyone who gets paid on a Wednesday will have gotten double today, nothing next week and then as normal on the 30th. Differs for those paid on a Tuesday.

Ok,I hope Im right when I say this.........If you collect your payment on tuesday of this then you would have gotten a double payment likewise if you collected it wednesday.People who collect there payments on tuesday will collect there payment as normal next tuesday but will not have any payment the following wk (the 29th) as the post office is closed and will have no payment until the 5th of january, now anyone that collected there payment on wednesday of this will have no payment next wk but will have a payment on the 30th (post offices are open that day).

I hope I got that right and it makes sense to everyone :).

That page on welfare.ie isn't very clear at all from my reading of it. Seem to contradict itself a bit and makes no mention of what happens to payments that would be due on the 1st.

i got double payment today .i presume thats this week and next week, but next dole day is january the 1st and post office is closed

hi guys knew to this place hows it going. Anyway i get paided on tuesdays but i alway collect it on mondays cause it do be in the post office. so i went this morning and there was nothing there. so the lady in the post office tryed ringing the social welfare in cork and they never awnsered. so i was looking on the net and looking on there website they say people who are collecting on the 29th which is my next day payment date can collect it on wed 23rd if they want to. so im guessing after the double week. theres differant days for collection like the guy who posted about thursdays. it says on the website that your payment is in there today . people collecting on fri and mon. there payments will be in on tuesday 22nd and people thgat usally have money in on tuesdays its here on wednesdays . i think thats how the payments are being let out and then next week theres nothing or uv an option u can collect on the normal days next week . its all mind boggling really and i was trying to ring them myself in cork and anytime iv rung there number they never awnser so im hopeing that there website is correct. ok lol i think thats it merry christmas:D

I usually collect on mondays, so I went to the post office today to collect next weeks payment and I was told it wouldn't be in until tomorrow. That would be fine but there is a sign up in my post office saying payments due on monday 28th could be picked up from monday 21st. I booked my ticket home for xmas for today, I can't exactly afford to loose that money. Does anyone know if I can pick it up on wed 30th when the post office opens again? I know i should've just asked in the post office but the staff there are not the most helpful at the best of times

yes id say u can collect your money on the 30th instead cause its only 2 days after the 28th inside the 3 day limit so i guess u can . stop they never make thing easy in this country everything is backwards. i mean i had,nt this problom last year this year don,t know weather the welfare site is telling the truth or not and they dont awnser phones then which helps alot

They didn't make this easy at all!

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Ya I'm getting Back to Education Allowance and get paid every Thursday but I got double pay last week and the website and the local welfare office are no help whatsoever. No payment this week will be a disaster because I was originally told I would get paid this week and I budgeted accordingly but I've heard so many different stories that I don't know what to believe

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 78 ✭✭irishjim111
