Where to Buy Silencer Foam

    Hi guys,

I have the Gemtech Halo silencer for my m4. Just wondering does anyone know where I can get more foam rings for it as most of them were shot out. I know they make no difference to sound but they are useful when it comes to stopping BBs/fragments going back into the barrel and wrecking the gun.

    Cheers!

if its hitting the outside... its not threaded properly... (just an aside)

Go to a petshop and pick up some fish filter foam of different densities, cut it to rings and fit it thick, then thin etc, A, it actually works, and B, its cheaper than any possible airsoft source of same. :)

As with every airsoft gun, the BBs don't always come out dead straight :( some skew the second they come out of the barrel and hit the foam in the silencer.

I have sent it to MIA and they put in a new tight-bore, extended barrel and new hop up :)

I'll try find that stuff you're talking about in a pet shop. Don't even know if there is one in Thurles :D

    Thanks!

Get an old AEG spring and stick that on the inside of the silencer to keep the foam from poking out in the way of the BBs, if the inner barrel isnt perfectly aligned with the outer you can add an 8mm o-ring to keep it central and that should sort your problem,.:)

Masada has a good point there with the spring... hadn't thought of that one. To be fair, no, bbs will not always come out at random angles sometimes... If i had that happening, id wonder wtf was wrong. They may deviate a little at range, but not 6 inches...

Also you could use the tube that the Madbull tight bore came in , to extend the outlet to the tip of the Silencer. I've done that on some guns when there is a shortfall between the end of the barrel and the tip of the silencer.:D

I don't think the foam was sticking out though. It has happened twice where, after a skirmish, I'd hear rattling in the silencer. I took off the top only for shattered and whole BBs to fall out :o I'm only guessing, due to this that they were skewed on exit of the muzzle. I don't think it'll be a problem anymore though since I've just had a tight-bore,extended barrel installed.

I think Chris in MIA put that tube into the package for me to use as I wish. I'll try it! I have the KWA LiPo M4 so I wouldn't really expect this kinda thing to happen but alas, it has!

you could use those foam tubes used for going around small pipes

too large in diameter, and too dense to have any effect, but nice idea :)
