Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar ...

I have a 05 Corolla and over the past few weeks, occassionally when I start it up the rev needle shoots up to 3500-4000, gives an almighty roar and stays there for 4-5 seconds. Happening on and off, different times of the day with no particular pattern. Foot is nowhere near accelerator, just turn the key and it roars.

Brought it into the garage and typicially they tried it umpteen times and couldnt replicate the problem.

    Anyone else seen this happen?
