I live on the coast (Wicklow), I have a silvercrest SL65/12 receiver, and all I have ever found on the darned thing is a great selection of 'German' TV stations (Astra 19), but I have never been able to find the Astra 28 satellite, what the hell am I doing wrong? and why is Astra 28.2 so difficult to find? What adjustments should I make to the dish to receive the BBC's? and is it just a case of 'tweaking' the dish Up or Down > Left a little or right a bit, or what  All I want is BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, CHN4.

Might the default settings on the Menu be part of the problem too ???

Set your sat receiver to 10773 H 22000 5/6 thats a BBC freq. If you are on Astra 19 already you need to go slowly to the left and dip the dish a tiny bit.

This link will be of help http://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm

It should be easy to get as its very strong in Ireland.

Tell us how you get on.:)

Bingo! and just in time for Christmas too ...........

Next question, how do I hook up a second TV to the SL65? I have heard about infra red transmitters (€70-80), but are they any good? or should I do it the hard way, and lay a new cable to TV set number two?

Best way would be to run a second cable and get a second box for the second room otherwise you will be watching the same channel, and those wireless senders in my opinion are more trouble than there worth.

I'd go along with you on that. Those wireless senders are buggy with flickering if microwaves are on plus the audio can be rubbish, hard wiring is the way to go.

BTW Happy you got Astra 2 Camelot.:):):)

OK, the latest is that the second receiver (65 feet of coax away from the first) is not getting as many stations as the 1st receiver/TV, and sometimes we get nothing at all on the second TV (unless we turn off receiver No:1) which gets the feed from the dish > might we need a booster? > and if so, how much might it cost, what type, and where do I get one?

Are you using a lnb loop out on the back of the 1st receiver?

Yes indeed, with the 65ft of cable then travelling to the second receiver ..................

Install a quad L.N.B at the dish, and then run your second cable from it to your second receiver, you cannot use the IF output on the receiver for your requirments.

    Regards,

I don't know why the manufacturers bother installing the LNB loop (IF) OUT (seeing as its surplus to requirements)!

So where can I get a Quad LNB for my Freeview dish? and wouldn't a twin LNB suffice?

Dual output L.N.B will do, but a quad will only cost a few quid more, and future proof for extra receivers in your house.

Contact tony for a good price (satellite.ie)

If your dish is not a sky mesh dish, make sure you get the right fitting lnb for the dish.

    Will do, many thanks.

P.S. It was soooooomuch easier to split the old UHF/VHF signals!

feel a little foolish about this.but im getting astra 1 on my dish, its 19 degrees,so to get to astra 2 at 28.2 or so degrees ,does that not mean turning it more to the right of where it is now.thanks,my ladder is wearing out.
