Looking at getting a 2000 or there abouts seat ibiza. Anyone have any previous experience with them. They seem to be cheap enough and a good few about. Was looking at this one, would be my first car and I have no idea about car's.

The 1.0 (it's not 900cc as advertised) is woefully underpowered.

W.O.E.F.U.L.L.Y !!! May even have been slowest car I ever drove !Even slower perhaps than 1985 Charade Diesel Van ,in fact almost certainly so...
Now the one litre Ibiza I drove was maybe a 96-98 which had an 8valve engine...MAYBE 'yours' is a 16v???Also it MAY not have power steering -the one I drove didnt and was quite heavy to steer -didnt bother me -why spend petrol money on powering a power steering pump !but it would be an issue with many drivers Id guess...You could try check

    parkers.co.uk

reviews to get exact spec but irish cars might have lower spec anyway...

Maybe the 'slowness' is good for a learner but then again overtaking in the majority of cases would be dangerous ...

It drives the same as a Polo of the same era. 1.0 is a dead dog, but I like the Ibiza for some reason - I'd certainly have one over the VW.

Make sure the radio/fan display thing works correctly. they're €400 to replace.

Drove one for a couple of year OP and they are indeed terribly slow, infacta, dangerously slow i would reckon, the concept of overtaking is a slow process requiring many miles of planning before commiting to make a move! Cant really say its overly economical wither because i now have a newer model ibiza with a 1.2 12v engine, which is WAY quicker and way more economical. Other than that they are a safe, well built, unoffensive car but tbh, i'd go for a fiesta or something over it

I'm sure the OP is looking at the 1.0 instead of the 1.4 for insurance/tax reasons?

Seat = spanish = greasy daegos = poor workmanship = unreliable cars

its the same with ital cars Fiat, Lancia etc

Whereas that 1.0 had around 50bhp, that 1.4 only had about 60bhp so thats barely going to be faster and undoubtedly less economical. Two awful engines IMO, at least VAG have copped on a bit since then

The Ibiza 1.4 was available with 60bhp, 75bhp and 100bhp.

Don't even know where to start with this TBH. apart from being mildly racist it shows a lack of knowledge too.

Aye but knowing the market in this country, the majority are all probably 60bhp!:)

OP, the Ibiza is probably a decent starter car. It's not going to set the world alight performance wise, but it's reasonably spacious for that age of supermini, reliable and fairly ok (but not class leading) road manners.

    I own a 2000 Seat Ibiza 999cc.

Engine is quite reliable, provided that the car was serviced regularly. Underpowered at 999c (50BHP), overtaking difficult above 80kph. Insurance about EUR 600-700 with 3 years no claims. Get a 1.2l if possible.

Seat and Skodas are quite reliable, even if the get the previous generation of VW engines, which by the way are most manufactured by Audi.
