Sky Box/Remote Issue

So here is the short version of the story...

Purchased a new telly and tried to program the sky remote to control it. The exact code was not present so the remote didn't really function properly.

Shortly afterwards the remote stopped working the sky box altogether.

REmoved the batterys for a while and it seemed ok but then returned to the non working state.

I tried all the blue/red/yellow button resets to no avail.

Eventually assumed the remote had been screwed up in some way so I purchased a replacement which worked for all of about 20 mins and then stopped exactly like the old one.

I tried rebooting the box and again things seemed fine for a short while and now its back to usual state.

Just now resetting the box with a power down and forced backup but dont hold out much hope....:(:(:(

Any thoughts appreciated.
