A friend of mine works part time for a shop, has been there for 4 years.
She works 9-5.30 3 specific days a week.
Her employer has stated that 29th Dec (one of her work days) the shop will be closed, she needs to use 1 of her holidays if she wishes to be paid for this day.

    Is this legally correct?

A lot of places in the Private Sector are doing that this year - losing one day is nothing compared to some. It could be much worse.
