    Howay'all??

Things have been a bit quiet on the golf forum this past few months, maybe we need to breath a bit of life back into it..??

To kick us off maybe a Christmas outing would be a bit of craic?
Somewhere handy for us all, cheap and friendly maybe?

If we all bring a prize of some description, say max value a tenner, there'll be prizes for everyone who turns up, Kris Kindle style..
Anything goes for prizes, drink, socks, funny stuff, whatever;)

No obligation to do anything except play golf, and have a bit of a laugh with a few fellow boardsies.

Also, I for one aint loooking to start a society, this is just a one-off for a bit of real-life banter between us.

I'm sure we'd have our pick of courses at a decent price, sometime in the week between Christmas and new year maybe..?

    Thoughts?

Based on the previous thread, it looks like the best chance of any kind of get-together over the holidays is:

Portmarnock Links on the morning of Wednesday 30th December for approx. €40

Because times will not be available for ever, it would be nice to get this nailed down so people can book and pay for it.
So vote (only if you are almost certainly going, public poll, we know who you are mauahahahaa cough).

Bugger, it's the one day I can't play!

Actually why the 30th when the 28th got 46% of the votes?

    I don't know
I've not been there before but I'm bemused that this is the extent of their directions ...

    How to find us
Portmarnock Golf Club is located on a sandy peninsula in the north-east of County Dublin. It is about 10 miles from Dublin City Centre.

I'll protect conno16 from the hooded claw and see that only a small amount of no harm comes to him... question is can he pick up a set of bay hills and some poulter armbands in time?

    Lyrath is a lovely spot.

I'm more than likely a 'yes' now. But we need to nail it down with times etc as well as final number or at least deadlines for final numbers.

whats the latest on this lads?

I dunno, there are 9 definites judging from the poll, maybe Licksy could PM all who said yes on the poll, and any who said yes in this thread, find out definites, and make a booking in Portmarnock Links for the 30th?

Or Licksy if you PM me the numbers I'll give them a call no problem and make a booking?

Maybe around 11 or so to give anybody travelling time to get there and also to make sure we all get around easily?
If we can get that time obviously..

Also, to make it a success, if we commit to being there on the morning we HAVE to be there, simple as.Well, unless some onforeseen circumstances come up obviously..

It's not fair to commit to being there and dropping out on the morning, leaving the person who made the booking embarrassed and messing up the fourballs for the rest of us.

    Sooooooo, lets get it on.......

OK lads I've been talking to Licksy and I'm gonna call Portmarnock Links in the morning to make a booking.

We are looking at the 30th Dec at 11 hopefully, but I'll confirm this in the morning.

We have 9 definite yes's and 11 maybes going by the poll so I'm gonna provisionally book 3 4-ball spots under boards.ie.

It is then up to you guys to call Portmarnock Links, take a spot and pay for it over the phone.

Hopefully we can fill three four-ball spots or maybe even more.

All golf buddies, friends, family etc. are welcome, boardsie or not, for a fun day of golf, hopefully with half daycent weather!

OK I just called them there and made a booking.

They had nothing on the 30th Dec though so I went with the 31st at 11 o'clock (it was the only day they had around 11 bells to give people time to travel etc.)

Hope this doesn't affect our plans too much, I know NYE isn't the easiest day to slip away!

Now all you gotta do is give them a call and pay individually for your spot. The booking is made under boards.ie. Times are 11:03, 11:11 and 11:19 or something similar.

    Portmarnock Links 01 8461800

If you book a spot please post here so we know what's going on.

    JC

Not to drive you distracted JCDUB but ... anything on the 28/29th? New Year's Eve seems like being particularly problematic.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,268 Mod ✭✭✭✭charlieIRL

let me know if you change to the 28th, might be able to make it if you don't mind a high handicapper!

Sorry lads, best they can do any other day is 12:30 earliest, at which time you'd be pushing it to get one group in in daylight, never mind three.

Nowt else we can do, if we don't get the numbers we won't do it.Demand (or lack of) will point us in the right direction:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,550 ✭✭✭Myksyk

    I don't know
Can you reset the poll so we can see who/how many can make it on the 31st?

Even if this outing doesn’t come off, fair play JCDUB for trying to get one organised. There never easy as you can’t suit everyone’s availability including my own! But we shouldn’t let that put us off another boards outing later in the year if there is a demand.

These things are always going to start small so even if its 2 x 3 balls so be it, hope ye all have a good one!
