What does a runner want for Christmas?

    Another technical top?
    Another pair of running shoes?
Another gadget to analyze the performance?
    Whats on your list?

It'll be a non-running prezzie for me I reckon as the OH just lets me get on with my addictive pastime. A paid trip to a nice marathon would be nice though OH if you read this :)

A spouse of a club member got in contact with our club to request that their partners club membership be paid for 2010, which i thought was a very good gift idea.

    socks are best - IMO.;)

Money, so I can hit the sales after Christmas! Hoping to grab shoes, a top and possibly another pair of capris in the sales.

I can think of a few boardsies who would want something food related. Must be a hunger thing with runners.

Only back from an injury and the only thing I want for Christmass is some degree of fitness!

However if that is not possible and its not looking too likely  then a voucher from a good running shop would be nice!

Do wiggle have good sales after christmas, would it be worth asking santa for money & then buying in Janurary. I need to get a few bits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,503 ✭✭✭✭Krusty_Clown

Last year I got a food processor. This year, I've already ordered the Petzl head torch, as much of my training for Barcelona will be at night, in the dark. Wiggle - they have all of my money.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of money on wiggle this year, looked at my account about a month ago and was disgusted. I pretty much have everything I need at the moment so won't be getting any new running gear or books. Might ask for an FA Cup ticket/flights to Edinburgh or something instead.

I have requested socks - not the multipacks from pennies but expensive, twin layer, anti-blister, breathable socks!!! I know they don't totally prevent blisters but they limit the damage and my footsies deserve them  or at least that's what I told my stepdad when he asked for suggestions!

OH refuses to buy me running gear as a present. It's gotta be wiggle vouchers from anyone else though.

In any order , one of the following :A new knee -left or right not fussy;Turbo Trainer -that costs less that my 98 saab;a pair of b*lls for cycling;A triathlon suit thats really means XL when its on.</p>

All I want for Christmas is my PhD. Giving a revised, and hopefully acceptable version to supervisor next thur/fri. It will be my birthday on the thur so getting this done will be literally all my Christmas's coming at once!

a treadmill- for when the weather sucks...you can get a decent one for about 600-700 euro if you do your research(i.e don't go near the likes of Argos) ..it would be a very generous present tho!

    Dear Santa,
Ive been a good girl most of the year so can I please have my MOJO back?
I promise not to abuse it or take it for granted again!
I`ll have some Strawberry Maxi-Milk out for you and some bananas for the Reindeers to keep their energy levels up...
    Thanks

Hmmm, I'm pretty set, although if you do want to get me something I'll have a pair of compression tights. I wouldn't mind a pair of carbon wheels for my bike too....

no wonder we were always finding reindeer poo in our gardens if you feed them banana's in Galway. Reindeers eat carrots in Dundalk.

To be able to run again.

It will be a bit past christmas before I get back to running but its final on the way. I'm hopefully going in to get my operation (lumbar spine) on Wednesday and hopefully in a few months time I will be able to run and train again at will. I really cant wait, just hope it all goes ok.

Change of tack then... suggested prezzies for other boardsies, race organisers etc?
    • a gps for donothoponpop (and me!) so we don't get lost.
    • a hamper for ultraman to fuel his running.
    • a mojo potion for magnet
    • an alternative relay leg on the Wicklow way relay for hunnymonster measuring > 50 miles for the leg (might even up the odds a bit in our favour :))
    • a 10k measuring tape for the Aware organisers.
    keep them coming...

definitely a stop watch for the jingle bells organisers!

In fairness, it sounds a lot worse than it is. I enjoy cooking (and eating) nearly as much as I enjoy running, so it was actually a great pressie. It just sounds dreadful! This year she's getting a foot spa. :D

I have to admit having an athlete in the family does make present buying that little bit easier. The other men in my family are extremely difficult to choose present for. Mind you it was a bit of a challenge choosing something for ZL this year. We have a shed that is 25x15 foot which is full of the bigger toys (boats and bikes) and I just counted 80 of those foldable crates in the basement holding all the smaller bits of kit.

Now if someone can knock these 2 together (phone watch + 310XT) - then you have the ultimate toy - training device
