With most of the Club AGMs concluded how did you fare financially? Did your club increase subs, reduce subs? Or like us, was there a stealth increase? When I told my wife "my subs are over E800 next year " I knew by her side-ward glance she was not a happy camper .

You can pay over 10 installments JC, quite a few did last year. The office has the application forms (well they did last year)

And yeah, I agree, the greens have the texture of an acne ridden teenagers hole.

As things stand no as I wont have the time and money next year.

Wasn't to pleased with the condition of the course this year never seemed to dry out at all.

Thinking of asking for the year off and taking back up again in 2011

no. I leased last year and got a good price.
But I just can't justify it - prob played there 30 times. Not unhappy with course or club. Money is a little tighter, but not shockingly so (yet to assess the impact of Lenihan)

I will get out twice / thrice a month anyway - which is reasonably big spend anyway.

    Rejoining both clubs

One in the west of Ireland 575 (including bar levy of 50) unchanged from last year

One in Dublin 650 a reduction of 150 on last year

Im joining Loughrea in January. Played it last week & was really impressed with it, very dry & still playing off the summer tee boxes. Greens were super too & It'll only 20 mins away once the motorway opens soon.

There's a 600e levy spread over the first 3 years so it works out at 710e for the year (& following 2 years) then 510 euro p/year after that.

Quick one, I only joined my club this year - should I get a letter / email from them informing me of next years sub?

Yeah you should do, it should have gone out already really. Within saying this I still haven't got mine so we're both in the same boat!

We got our bill pre-AGM but will have to add 25e on post-AGM motion. Under 850e though but I also have a large yearly bar/restaraunt spend so add another 1300e + travel. I thought a slight decrease would have been in order or at least a gesture as were one of the rare clubs with a slight profit. The increase was for course development so I cant rant as it needs attention, esp the swimming pools that use to be bunkers. Got so bad that I had to shout fore to a lad fishing beside one last week!
I couldn't justify spending over 1ke for two rounds a week. Hat off to those who can still afford high subs. We lost 80, yes 80 members last year and I feel we'll lose some more again this year.

My old club in Roscrea lost 50 odd members last year coz they put up the membership when Rathdowney was doing a deadly deal like pay 500e & pay nothing til 2011 or something.

Definitely rejoining. I enjoyed it too much, crap weather and all, last year and I'm only getting started on attacking my handicap so I see next year as hopefully being a big one.

Haven't got an invoice yet but my club set out a letter earlier in the year saying that the fee would be unchanged again for the 4th year in a row I think.
€859 I think including vat, gui fee and a small club levy.

Leased in Killeen last year and will be doing so again next year, subs unchanges @ €1349 which includes €100 behind the bar, insurance and GUI fee

Hmmmm, just rang my club there to see what finance options they had available, and he said Fairways Finance (I think.) Pay over ten installments throughout the year at 4.5% interest I think.

He's posting me out the application form, I'll post details tomorrow.
Sorry for vagueness, will corrrect tomorrow.

ours is unchanged @ 739, will rejoin.

Fairways Finance seem to have wrapped up the market on paying subs, at least in Dublin.
Its more expensive than the way we used to do it (the club would take out a loan on behalf of the members subs so we got a much better rate)

Ours is unchanged, ~€2k all in.

I'll be paying up again for 2010 no question,i enjoy competitive golf too much to let the recession get in my way. 575 for the year for my club is great value for me as i'm very close to it and get to play a lot throughout the year.

Licksy and Mag you guys got cracking value there.

From paying €850 on a public course last year to paying €1500 next year, its a big difference, but once you like and are happy in the club playing regularly you can justify it a little more. Played loads of opens, which are costly anyway, so will clamp down on that this year. When you enjoy and look forward to playing you just have to cut down on other aspects of life like eating out less often and a few less pints...

im in meath, not dublin so its reasonably average. the bar & gui subs will bring it nearer 900.

I think I’ll join Bellewstown this year. The course is ok, but it’s good value I think at 820 for the year – you have the option of paying 220 up front and 6 installments of 100 euro. It wouldn’t be my number one preference – Laytown & Bettystown and Seapoint are much better courses, but I’ve enjoyed the course the few times I’ve played it.

It was in the sligo champion yeaterday that the county sligo golf club (rosses point) are offering new members 50% off the full members Sub with no joining fee to pay and its 25% in year two. according to http://www.gui.ie/membership_search_results.asp That will leave it just 486 euro to new members of the club great value for a great course.
