With the dreaded R word and today's dreaded B word are you going to go out this Christmas, St Stephens Night, New Years Eve etc? House party, the local or the nightclub in town?

Think it'll be town this year for me.

    you?

I only ever went out once on New Years Eve and it was a disaster

why spend so much to be crushed in a niteclub full of smelly teenagers?

    House party ftw

I never hit a niteclub New Years Eve. Might be at a party this year though. Usually head to one of two pubs in Dundalk. Doors close early. Still plenty of people in but not too bad.

Christmas Eve mass for the former, Jools Holland's Hootenanny on TV for the latter

Christmas Eve with the family, and New Year's Eve... well, it will be kind of depressing. I'm moving from Massachusetts to Florida and my big drive begins early in the morning on Jan 1st. So New Year's Eve will be probably be me in an completely empty apartment - no television, no Internet, no furniture - sleeping on the floor, followed by two days of 10 hour driving.

Staying in christmas eve ,going over to some friends later on on christmas day ,out stephens day (evening ) . Going out new years eve, unless it's a local party nearby , I tend to give a miss because of the hassle waiting in the freezing cold to get a taxi home .

    Which town?

I won't be at Christmas, I'll see about New Year's. Depends if there's many going out.

wouldn't even concider going out on both stephen's night or new year's.

too many tramps, scumbags, ass-hole bouncers and rip-off pub/nightclub-owners, and of course after hours favourite taxi drivers!

ill be going to a house party with friends and saving myself 100 - 150 quid and a 2 hour wait for food and a taxi at 3am!

    Will stay in Christmas Eve.

Going to Leinster/Ulster match on Stephen's Day in the RDS, can't wait for that. Will probably head out after it.

Then house party for New Year's.

Well i've NEVER been out in a pub/club on new years eve so i might just do it this year unless a house party pops up (no shortage of them that night...) Will sit in on xmas eve, its just another day tbh!

I'll be going out in Dublin with some buddies on New Year's, hopefully.
Might have a bit of a pre-session in mine first.
I was in Cork for it last year and it ... sucked, so fingers crossed, this year will be more fun!

I'll be out on Christmas Eve but not drinking. I'll just be out having a bit of a laugh with friends and then head in for a few drinks with the folks.

St. Stephens Day is sh*t. I've been out once on Stephens night and it's crowded everywhere.

I've enough drink in my house as it is so I'd rather chill in my house with mates and have a few drinks.

New Years is terrible when you go out to night clubs from my experience. Hopefully a house party will be happening somewhere thus saving me lots of money. At least I don't have to pay 15 or 20 euro in to a house party.

Hoping to go out christmas eve but staying in New Years-hate it! Could change my mind if a good house party offer comes up though!

That put a dampner on my cheistmas plans too :(

Christmas eve and day are always spent at home with the family. Stephens' day is usually a house party followed by 4 or 5 five days of continous boozing. Then there's a choice of house parties for New years eve. Though theres a rumour ill be whisked away to a fancy hotel for it so heres hoping!

stay in xmas eve probably, will be forced out for new years eve even though I HATE it with a fiery vengeance!

Mate's house for a few brews on Xmas Eve. The normal host of the celebrations on the 26th will be abroad, selfish bitch :P... Flying home on the 3rd, so the 1st is the last day I can afford to be hung over on, going it is compulsary...

Out. On the lash. Both nights.
Its not Christmas unless your too hungover to properly enjoy the spirit of the season.

will be very busy cooking on xmas eve so will probably stay in and have a few cans but ill more than likely go to the pub for a lock in on new years eve

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,584 ✭✭✭PCPhoto

.... have to think about it (didnt realise its soooo soon)

erm... normally out few scoups christmas eve - then midnight mass.

and New years is usually in some random pub with some friends.

The last time I went out for New Years it was one of the most depressing nights of my life. I reckon there's a good chance I will be staying in this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,460 ✭✭✭Ishmael

Never go out in town on either of them. Few beers at home on Christmas eve and either the same or a house party on New Years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,363 ✭✭✭Misty Chaos

I don't see the point in going out to the pub drinking on Christmas Eve, to be honest. If I do end up in a pub at any point on Christmas Eve, I won't be drinking that day.

On St Steven's Day, I'll be out on the lash in town, though I too agree it can get ridiculously crowded that night. My pair of converse shoes were destroyed last year! Good thing I live in town and don't need to worry about a Taxi, though.

As for New Years, same thing, though I won't get as messed up as I'll probably will on St Steven's Night. Unless of course, something else pops up.
