    hi guys,
looking for an answer to this if possible...
is it illegal for someone to project an image/colored light onto a billboard advertisement that is in a public location... say by the side of a road?
if it is which law is it breaking?
    Thanks a million

Going by the fact there have been floodlit ads for donkeys years, then it's perfectly legal to light up a sign with any colour.

If the bright light/image misses the sign and shines on you- then there might be an issue.

thanks, but im more concerned with a third party having legal repercutions for projecting an image or colored light upon an advertising billboard... thus intefering with the advertisments printed message?
    thanks

It could be argued to be a material change of use of the structure and require planning permission.

Do you mean if I shone a Vodafone logo onto a Meteor billboard ad?

I would assume you need some sort of permission or license....was at the last Ireland rubgy match and saw various Guinness logo's projected onto buildings around Croke Park after the match; I doubt they were there without asking
