Making a one bulb lamp into a three bulb lamp

I've got a lamp which I have canabilased. I would like to turn it into a three bulb lamp. How should I do it?

I will buy two more lamp holders. Should I then just wire all the holders up in a ring (i.e. in series) or should I be using some kind of junction box to split the power 3 ways and send 2 wires to each bulb (this is parallel I assume?).

Should this effect my choice of bulb?

    Thanks.

    Parallel connection is required.
Make sure lamp shade, if any, can handle three times the heat.
Make sure if they're low-voltage bulbs that the power supply can provide the required current. Not relevant if mains-powered.
