Mate of mine is getting sky installed, he has no phone line.

Am i right in thinking that this charge is purely because the installer has to phone sky to pair the sky card with the box? It's something like over €30?

The charge is €37.50. This is charged to the agents for a manual activation of the card, it is not simply because the installer has to ring sky. The installer doesnt keep this charge as it goes directly to sky.

Do you mean that the agents get charged?

"Manual activation" means that the installer will ring sky and pair the box and card although in the good old days before the cards were sent direct to the customer the installer could activate the box and card at his base.

I paid this charge when l got my HD upgrade last christmas, so my receiver is not connected to a phone line.

What happens if l want to get multiroom, will sky insist on both boxes being connected to a phone line?
