It may be more productive to outline in general terms how you feel aggrieved by your accountant and you'll most likely get a better response and advice as to how to proceed.

Find out what body they are qualified with and make a complaint to them.

firstly IT person dont be so glib it is other peoples money we are talking about. how about this told us voluntary liquidation of a company would cost 18000 euro but we have subsequently found out that they only paid 10000 to the liquidation company. surely even they cannot get away with that . let me know what can be done. please !!!!!

Has the difference anything to do with the accounting company's work relating to the liquidation?

Have you asked the accounting firm why there is a difference?

If not happy, as has been mentioned above, tell the accounting firm you will be contacting their professional body.

they told us the liquidation company was charging the 18000 euro what can the accountancy body do because it seems to me that accountants can do what they like, make mistakes with your work that you pay them alot of money to do, but ultimately they can just say "well you signed off on that so it is your responsibility". after paying these guys so much money over the course of our time with them it is absolutely soul destroying to think that they took this extra money and i want something done aboout it.

If that's the case you would have redress to their professional body.

First of all make a list of all your detailed grievances and talk to your accountants and see what they will do for you. Their professional body has huge control over them up to barring them from being accountants.

Good luck - hope it works out.

I would suggest you put your complaint in writing to your accountant first if you have not already done so. Wait for a response before doing anything. You may find that the threat of a complaint to the professional body may be enough to get you a refund. Good luck
