Importing a modified classic

Hi there, I'm looking at importing a classic car from the UK but want to make sure I don't get stung on VRT, as the engine has been upgraded to a brand new, bigger one. Are there any guidelines handy, for importing modified classics, ie. what parts of the car must you leave intact for it to keep its vintage? Is it just the chassis? Cheers, Enda.

2 years ago i asked at the NCT if i can build a body myself on a beetle chassis and what happen then. They told me that the car will still be a modified classic beetle.
