Strong SRT 6130 pin / factory reset

Hi guys
Can you please help?
Manual Page 17: "You are recommended to write down your new PIN code. I case you forget it, you can reset your receiver to factory default settings but you will lose all information you saved."
However I cannot enter the "Installation Menu" without knowing the current password. There must be a way of manually resetting the STB. I've read and re-read the manual and "Googled" to no effect. It's frustrating.
Any ideas ??

Its usually 0000 by default on most STBs.

If you cant get by it with 0000 then the password is whatver you set it to. Since you dont remember that, you could try flashing the firmware ?

Thanks STB,
The problem is I can't get pass the main menu without password. Manual say that factory reset will reset password, but you need password to get to "setting" menu. CIRCLES. There has to be a way but it beats me

Tried all the usuals, 0000, 1234, 8888, 4567, etc...No avail. I didn't get that page when I googled. Please don't think i couldn't be bothered. I even sent email to Strong support, no reply as of yet though. There has to be some trick, some hidden menu that is triggered by combination of keys.

tried...........result = Gonna start at the default "0000" and in increments of 1.....I'll check back in with you guys when fingers get sore.....Maybe I could "take out a book" on it. What are the odd...between 1 and 1000 ?? any takers ??

When you emailed Strong, did you use this address:

Also, when my Strong went arse ways, I got it repaired by a business on the Naas Road in Dublin. I'll be damned if I can think of their name though. If I find the receipt, I will give it to you.

Perhaps one of the installers here knows who looks after Strong in Ireland.

As regards getting machine unlocked professionally, I'll see if my patience is enough to carry me through...nearly up to 300 now. The cost of unlocking would probably pay for new box.

At Bluebell Industrial Estate. ?? Their web site leads me to believe they're very big /commercial..and not for muppets like me...or do I have the wrong people

They are big wholesalers but they do deal with walk in customers, much to the annoyance of retailers You might even chance a phone call to save you a trip

Yeap, thats them.. I knew they began with A!!

It cost me €50 a couple of years ago to get my box reflashed. I tried an over the air update and it completly messed up my Strong 6355 (bought off Tony in 2005).

mjsmyth ... I e-mailed again to address you suggested, but the response I got was from their Web based e mail:
Betreff: Formmail on www.strongsat.com
They sent me two "MASTER CODEs" not meant for "end user"...worked perfectly. Just to give you a laugh. I had started entering codes 0001, 0002 etc. I was within 5 of reaching the master code. However it could have been 9999....and 2 weeks later

Yep.. no problem....Just give the MODS a chance to say no if it's not allowed...... I don't want to get in trouble. And I'm not quite out of the woods yet. I'm having trouble getting the DISEQC switch to work...Used same settings as Lidl caomag box, i think. different sort of menu system. So Im still playing...
will post codes later if I don't see a hold off notice

24 hours later and still no "hold off" notice. So as to the master codes, there seems to be a little ambiguity on "1234, 5678" so best to post the contents of both separate emails received

1st email received:
You have to use the Master PIN which is not available for end customers, as this is mainly desired for service purpose. Just for your understanding.Please try to enter 1004, this must be correct. But if in your receiver is used 1234 as default PIN code than use 5678 as Master.

2nd email:
The universal PIN of the SRT 6130 receiver is either 1234 or 1004.

Attention everybody else ( + TONY)
having trouble now getting the diseqc to switch between lnbs. Comag box works perfectly. when replace with "strong 6130", i have problems. Astra 1, astra 2. hotbird...Can't remember name of 4way switch (clue: suplied by Tony). with all satellites cleared, when 1st sat is scanned, it seems to lock the diseqc, and the other sats (set for diff lnb numbers and diff diseqc inputs) load up all the channels for the 1st sat, under the name of the 2nd sat. Have spent 1 1/2 days trying different combinations that I "knew" to be incorrect.
ANY ideas folks??
Am I falling into some trap or is there some trick with this box ??

What model Strong. I have the 6355 and have 5 different sats set up on it. What steps do you take to program in the sats?

Hi Tapest,

I use a motor to swap between sats. I positioned the dish pointing at Astra 2, fine tuned and then saved. I then selected a different satellite and moved the dish to it, fine tuned and saved and so on and so forth....

It is quite easy with a motor to do this, I have never used a 4 way switch.

I'm currently using 4 way switch with a Comag stb, without difficulty (after initially overcoming problems configuring diseqc settings). the problem is when I substitute Strong box for Comag. I must be doing something stupid in the lnb /diseq settings. Slightly different labels etc....frustrating.GRRRRRRRR
