UPC DVR issue

Having an issue since I got home from work today. When I turn on my box all I get is the message "The set-up is now being finalised, this can take a few mins" etc and it just hangs on that.

Didnt think much of it earlier asd I was watching Transformers with the young lad but its still at it now. If I go into the guide it shows the channel I'm on in the preview window fine, but when I select a channel it just goes back to the main screen with the message. Iv'e tried removign the card a putting it back in and also resettign the box, any ideas?


Before I try the facto9ry reset option, I assuem I lose all my recordigns if I do that, yeah?

No, you won't lose any recordings if you preform a factory reset.

I got that when I didn't pay my bill and they cut me off. Could be that.

One would also get this message if they had incorrectly recorded which smart card you had in your machine and the person whom owned the card you had did not pay the bill or cancelled their service...

Had something simmilar yesterday on my Thomson UPC DVR box (the silver one).

Was watching on channel (at 17:59) and had a reminder set. The channel switched (at 18:00) without the usual "Do you want to bla bla bla"... Anyway, the channel it jumped to had the info banner stuck, so I pulled the plug and the box restarted.

It was stuck in the updating screen and the yellow diode on the front blinked in three's (like three quick blinks, long pause, three quick yellow blinks etc).

I just left it on and after a little while it went back into stand-by...

Have never seen this before.

It's not that. My other two boxes are workign fine (and the bill is paid :-) )

Just on to UPC there, apparently I need a new card :mad: . Was just thinking back to when they sent out the cards a coupel of months back and I only recieved 2 (for the older NTL boxes) and I'm nearly sure it was mentioned specifically that the newer UPC branded boxes didnt need another new card (whichwould be why tehy only sent me 2). So the long and short is that I've no tv for a couple of days:mad: I'm taking the box out of one of the other rooms seeign as I pay the bill.

i know you have it fixed, but for future reference, when the info banner / now and next banner is stuck on the screen , just go into the guide and then come straight back out again, it should be back to normal then. It has happened to me a few times before.
