uhf signal

    is there an rte uhf signal from woodcock hill at present, one time yes, as i wish to erect an ariel and off mast amp. i am roughly 30 miles due south of there, thanks in advance.

    According to the RTE NL website there is a 2Kw signal being broadcast from Woodcock Hill, the UHF channels are 39/42/49/45 for RTE1/2/TV3/TG4 respectively, the polarization is horizontal.

    Tell me what town or village you're in and I'll give you the exact direction to point the aerial at, from 30 miles away you can be reasonably vague about the location.

    Spur Hill in Cork may also be an option, it's five times more powerful than Woodcock Hill and it's 60 miles south (of WH) so you may be equidistant from both in which case if the terrain is suitable you may be better off looking south to Spur Hill. As usual, it's always a good thing to see what the neighbours are doing.
