    Hi,
Im giving a friend Eamonn's book for Christmas. He lives in the states and would really appreciate it. A fan and a runner. I'd like to get Eamonn to sign it. Is anybody going to the Alsaa thing and perhaps get him to sign it for me ? Im not around that evening to go to the event. Would be very greatful if anybody could drop it up to him.I could leave it at reception that day. I just don't want to leave it there for somebody to forget it!!

If anybody can do this It would be great.:)

I wouldnt bother getting it signed to be honest he is only an elitist clown . However came to DCU training on a tuesday night and he will be there with his shades on along with Fitzy checking out the talent.

PS where was the chairman when Seb Coe was strolling by him

Wishing you all a festive and joyful holiday season.

You wouldn't have anything against him would you?!!!
Seemed sound when I met him.

I banned you once before for trolling in here, lengthier ban this time. Play nice when you come back or the next one will be a perm ban.

Very unfair comment on one of our finest athletes. On the occasions when i did meet Eamonn he was nothing but a gentleman. He may not be afraid to speak his mind occasionaly, but he did his talking on the track.Do we have to knock all our greats?

Agree. He is a total class act. A world class athlete who has the common touch and has time for everybody.

Yes, very true. I'll sound old saying this but younger athletes haven't really got a grasp of our athletic heritage. The sad thing is many think they are the bee-knees when in fact they wouldn't have the talent or work ethic to lace the spikes of someone like Coghlan. Its sad. Coghlan should be someone young athletes should be looking up to. Many do of course and they appreciate our greats and interestingly the ones that are really talented and successfull fall into this category. For some reason being good at our sport many times goes in tandem with having a knowledge and appreciation of the history of the sport.

amadeus isnt it about time that you gave ricflair a permanent ban? every post he's ever made is just a venomous slur on eamon coghlan for no aparrent reason other than the fact he wears shades to training sessions

somebody deserves a good slap to sort him out.

where was the chairman when seb coe was winning the oly 1500? he was running the 5k <Snip>

He is banned but that doesn't make back seat modding ok.

I think Coghlan is slightly under rated in his athletics history and massive footnote he has left. Was reading The Perfect Distance:Steve Ovett and Seb Coe,the Perfect Rivalry and Coghlan gets great mention in it.

back seat modding!!? well well oh great master moderator i am truly apologetic, i was clearly out of line when i felt that the harsh abuse of one of irelands greatest sportsmen was unfair, as you clearly take great enjoyment in letting little pups like the wrestler ric flair run riot without remorse on these sacred boards.

there is no point being the chairman of the boards if you cant be respected on boards

Take your username for instance. this is a quite hurtful insult to the great irish defender richard dunne. he has worked long and hard to rid himself of the tag "hunnymonster", which he was labelled due to his large frame, only to be publicly lambasted on the web by yourself. i think you should apologise.

It really sums it up when a simple request about Coughlan, results in this crap.

Just to reiterate what the sentiment expressed by the majority of posters. Eamon was a fantastic athlete. He continues to be a wonderful ambassador for the sport. His personality and achievements were inspiring to me personally when I was growing up.
