San Diego Summer 2010

My friends and I are looking into going to San Diego for 3months this Summer. We were in Santa Barbara last summer and our accommodation was too small, we would need somewhere that could fit around 6/7 guys comfortably? Any suggestions would be great thanks!

Ah thanks a million ive just emailed him there, i hope a loada people dont see your message and start flooding him with emails ha! Do you remember how much you paid per month, deposit? Or the name of the place so i could google it! Thanks!

Have you heard back from him yet? If you can get his place its a pretty sweet spot. We paid just over $2,000 a month last year. He was asking for more but gave us a pretty good discount when we gave him a reference.
He doesn't advertise so if you get in touch with him before anyone else you should be able to secure the apartment for the summer.

What's your plan for san diego, work, holiday or what? We all got jobs when we were there last summer and travelled around a bit too. Tijuana is a must, the clubs are incredible and there's no hassle if you're not 21. Be careful which clubs you go to though as you could easily find yourselves in a gay bar, as we discovered to our embarassment! lol

Hey yeah I emailed him last night and have been emailing him since, he seems like hes probably gonna rent it to us! Saw pics of the place its perfect! Did you get your deposit back, like was he strict or did you not see him for the Summer? also what are the neighbours like? Thanks a million for your help. We're hoping to work for June and July and travel for the month of August. Where did you's get jobs? If we get the place off Geoff do you think I should ask him about jobs? Cheers

Be careful if you go to Tijuana, it's not what it used to be. Always go in as big a group as you can and try not to get too drunk. You don't know what those guys are capable of!

That's great that you could be getting it! We got our deposit back despite the odd broken plate and glass, no major damage though. He called into us twice while we were there but let us know a day or two before that he was coming, so no probs! Neighbours were pretty cool, a few other groups of students who we got to know which was good.

As i said two of us got work doing maintenance in the complex. The rest got jobs in either Sea World or bars down around Pacific Beach. Definitely ask Geoff about jobs asap cos it was actually through connections of his that we got work in Sea World. If you like I'll get the lads to see if they have numbers for any of the places they worked and you might be lucky cos you'd have a connection??

hey man, can u do me a big favour and delete this post cause we've basically got the place but he said hes gettin a loada other offers from people who saw his email on boards.ie (and we dont want the competition haha) and hes kinda pissed off about it. thanks! also if you got those numbers you could still email them to me, just delete the first post with the email address please!

hey sorry to hijack the thread but what area of san diego would you reccomend to live in ? were going in early june and have no aaccommodation yet.What area's are mostly student based and with plenty of house parties etc ?

You'd be looking at College Area or Pacific Beach. Actually, Mission Beach and Ocean Beach are full of parties too. College area is a bit further inland so you won't be by the beaches. Downtown is fun too during the summer, but not as relaxed.

3 of us headin San Diego in early June aswell think we will just be lookin out on craigslist for accomodation dont know what to do about jobs really. Anyone any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check out places that get busy during the summer, look up jobs at Petco Park or Qualcomm Stadium. The Del Mar Races would be a good place too. Get in touch with Bernadette at the Irish Outreach Center, she can possibly try find you something, they're really helpful there.
