Existing SKY Customer - upgrade to HD

    Hi

I am existing SKY customer with the following:
1st Room - Sky Plus with Sky World + Family pack sub: Cost 71.50
2nd Room - Standard sky box - multiroom sub cost 14.75

    So total payment is 86.25

I rang sky to enquire about possible upgrade to sky HD for the current standard box I have, so I can keep the sky plus box also.

    They advised:
HD box is free as I currently have at least 1 movie and 1 sports channel
€40 to install and an additional monthly sub fee of €14.75 going forward.

€14.75 seems a bit steep, especially as new customers get so many better deals with one month free, or half price on the multiroom for 12 months.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions.
Should I be trying Sky to see if they will half my multiroom room for the 12 months.

I dont particularly want to leave sky as my wife does like sky plus and a lot of the channels in each pack. Any advise is appreciated.

    Sorry - one other point.
Maybe I should get rid of the multiroom sub after the upgrade and just use the sky plus box for FTA ? Although I wouldnt be able to record anything in that room would I.....

Correct, Once the sub is gone from the Sky+ you lose all recording facilities.

If you bring your sub down by taking off one of the Movies mixes you would save yourself €5. If you get rid of one of the smaller mixes you would save €2 each ie. News mix - you get Sky News anyway and most people only take the news mix for At The Races. Do you actually watch Style and Culture mix? Another €2. Music Mix? Kids Mix? Knowledge Mix? All €2 each and it does add up.

Over the course of a few days, take notice of what you are actually using from your Sky World pack. You might be able to take out mixes to the value of your HD sub.
