    Hi folks,
I'm looking for a recommended light gun for use with MAME. The PC is currently connected to a 1080p LCD TV.

    TIA,
    Nforce

I've heard good things about this one -

    http://hardware.teamxbox.com/xbox/49/LCD-TopGun-Light-Gun/

Ignore the bit in brackets at the top saying (XBOX). From what I can see it works for a lot of different systems, including the PC.

Cheers, O1s1n  ...I'd been looking at that one earlier. Don't suppose you or anyone else here has first hand experience of it on a LCD Tv?

I have that exact one at home. It works for ps3 ( running ps2 gun games ) xbox,ps2,pc ( MAME ). However i found it a nightmare to set-up but it does work well once setup correctly.

Here's a suggestion, a bit complicated but there you go...
There is a bit of software that lets you use the Wii-mote as a mouse replacement, so turning it into a defacto pointer.
Use it and then load MAME and you should then have a perfectly servicable lightgun, especially when combined with the various clip-on gun's out there for the Wii, House of the Dead Overkill comes with a nice oversized revolver effort.
MAME will see the lightgun/Wii-mote as a mouse control and off you go, happily blazing away.
This would also be a relatively cheap solution, I think!
Especially if you already have a Wii and you have a bluetooth dongle on the PC.

    Just a suggestion.

Cheers guys....I've just ordered the gun in Q1s1n's link. I don't have a Wii and as the MAME pc is for my 7 year old he would prefer a "gun":o

robfowler78...how was it difficult to set up?

OOoh cool! My nc10 has bluetooth by default. I've been trying to figure out a use for it. I wonder would that work with the head tracking software that was put out a while back?

Excellent! Let us know how you get on with it.

You need to clip 2 sensors ( like the wii sensor bar ) to the side of the tv or monitor they need to be secure so they don't move. Then you need to load the drivers up and you need to get some software from the web for mame to work ( google helps with this ). Once this is done you calibrate the gun, the calibration setup is hardest you need to be the correct distance etc.The best tip i can give is follow the instructions to the letter it does work when setup correctly.

The topgun was the best option until recently when Ultimarc released its AIM-Trak Light Gun Module which can be installed into any guncon controller

    See link

    Its suppose to be brilliant
