Time to send foreigners back?

Is it time to get real about our national debt situation? The upcoming budget is going to be a whopper. Its no secret that many people using our social welfare services are not even European, nevermind Irish. What they are getting is still like a months wages in their country of origin. Is it time we "soft-touch Paddies" grabbed this situation by the balls, and send those we cant afford to keep back home? It reminds me of a lesson a lifeguard once taught me - if you're trying to rescue someone and they're dragging you down, stick your fingers in their eyes. One dead person is better than two. Thoughts.....

Its hard for me or any reasonable Irish person to turn around and send someone home. We emmigrated as much if not more then anybody and it is only fair to be as welcoming in return.

Also the E.U has brought us a lot of good and opened a lot of doors so basically to take from Europe we have to be more European and that of course includes accomadting our fellow europeans.

But I will say in the O.P's defence that were there proof of serious false welfare claims or even a situation were there was a serious high percentage of "foreigners" on the dole that in that case maybe it is time to be stricter. After all the point of thier coming here was to work if they can't do that they are simply draining from a broken economy because it pays more then their home.

As I say to back such aggressive measures there would have to be serious proof. I do think we shouldn't be given our money away. Resources, jobs and sharing the wealth of course but we have no more have this wealth to share and it is our hard working public servants taking the hit.

You can kick out all of the foreigners you want.

.....provided that you take the rest of the Irish diaspora back in exchange.

I blame the recession for threads like this; people like the OP have stooped this low due to the current times..

    1. The foreigners aren't to blame for the recession
    2. Yes there are a considerable amount of foreigners 'milking' the system, but we need people like you to spot them out and report them (if you have the balls to)
    3. If Ireland decides to send us all away, then the country should be ready for a mass influx of Irish Nationals abroad and they would MILK the country more... I don't know the exact number but i don't think it compares to the population of the foreign nationals here.
    4. Immigration is a problem that is affecting the EU and any country worldwide, it's never going to be straight forward. We all have families/friends who have emigrated, how do you think they would feel reading threads like this in the countries they've emigrated to?

It is too early in the morning to discuss this, go back to sleep OP! :D

Forget it OP. You'll hardly get a reasonable discussion on boards about an important matter like this.

Yup, and that should end the discussion. But I'm betting it won't!

Closed. I can't tell if you're being sincere or not, OP. If you are, PM me and explain your position without resorting to tabloid-esque appeals to my base emotions with crap like:
    "soft-touch Paddies..."
