You just have to buy them once and you're in the draw for the length of time you keep them, but you cant cash them in for 4 months or summtin like that...

Fastest way to depreciate your cash. Stay clear imo.

I have bought my daughter and 7 nieces and nephews a prize bond every Christmas since they were born (easier than going to the toy shop), and she is 21 this year, and not once has one of them won a single thing. In saying that about eight years ago the hubby's Father won €100, and he was dead for four years......

    I think you'll find that's buying a house in 2007 !

Just to demonstrate that if you have a substantial holding you will win. I bought €70K and they have been in for 5 draws so far. First two weeks nothing and then 4 wins in 3 weeks including €1000. I was figuring on winning enough €75's in the year to equal around 3% interest so the €1000 should ensure I will make the target or better. Of course I might not win again but that's the risk.

and they will always be worth what you paid for them :D
A great way of having a flutter with the only downside being loss of interest.
Lotto is a one off investment for one draw, Prize Bond is a one off investment for all draws.

I'd take a look here If I was you dxhound:

I know you've done alright so far but you'll more than likely lose in the long run. The house has a big advantage here.

I was thinking of sticking 30k into them for a year just to see, the interest in the bank is a bit crap now so it might be worth a shot

If I manage to hit the equivalent of 3% it is DIRT free so it is the same as 4% which you wont get on many accounts. Of course it is all IF but it's going OK especially on 26 March four €75's which is a bit extraordinary.
The KB is from an earlier small investment.

Aren't we in a period of deflation? I've got a couple from birthdays and Xmases years ago...never won anything..wouldn't even know where they were if I ever got the call to say I'd won the big one

What exactly are the weekly draw winnings and monthly draw winnings?

The prizebond site isn't very clear
€1,000,000 to be won by one person every month, and each draw also has prizes of €75, €250 and €1000. Is that right? How many 75s, 250s and 1000s are given out each draw?

    http://www.prizebonds.ie/livedraw/drawresults.asp?1

That is the most recent draw. Last draw of each month top prize is one million, other draws €20,000. Five at €1000 and 10 at €250 and around 5300 at €75, this number can vary. Draw is made every Friday 12.30 pm.
