ah shur you know the answer. Meganes are scrap. some of the later 06 ones aren't as bad as the older ones, but that's a bit like saying that Jedwards rendition of 'Ghostbusters' was better than their version of 'No matter what'

the 86bhp 1.5 engine is shockingly slow, but the higher bhp (106 I think) is much better.

Plenty of reliable ones going about. Saying that I still wouldn't. Did some research into a Renaultsport one lately. Despite the good deal buying one I wouldn't touch one

hoe bout a Civic IMA (hybrid).

VRT on most years is a few hundred €, so cheap to import. have leather etc. and light on fuel.

just curious... why would you want to go for another renault if u had so much trouble with one?

OP, why would you go back to Renault when you've already had a bad time with them? The only reasonably reliable Renault in your budget would be a Clio. Otherwise avoid them. Follow the saying 'Once bitten, twice shy' in motoring and you'll be fine.
