Ive just sold my canon 1000d along with the kit lens. I've ordered a replacement body and this leaves me with my Sigma 10-20mm, 50mm 1.8 and 55-250mm lenses. I'm window shopping at the minute for some thing to fill the 20-50mm gap. I will be doing down the used route....

I had been thinking of a 28mm or 35mm prime, but came across the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. Like sigma it seems to come in a couple different mounts. There is a new version out with a form of image stabilisation (called VC i think), so im thinking this might help lower the value of the none VC models a bit?

Has anybody got an experience with this Tamron? Or would would you think i'd be better with a 28mm or 35mm prime?

    Fire away with any advise!

I'm having major trouble finding a lens for this focal lenght,I have a sigma 20-40 f/2.8 but I'd rather something which is abit wider and has abit more zoom on it..

I've recently been looking at the sigma 18-50 f/2.8 seems like a decent bit of kit for the money,Might be worth a look!

Apart from the extra range your after, how do you find the sigma 20-40. One of them caught my eye on ebay.

The way I look at it is, you get what you pay for. I'm always dubious of Tamrons quality.

Can be true Ken but I do love mine. I would assume the nikon would be better but with such a high price tag it wasnt for me at the time, now I wouldnt be without my Tamron.

I have one, it's a great lens rarely off my camera. Most of my pics on flickr are taken using it if you need to see a sample.
