Buckled wheel

    Hi,

My son had a tumble off his bike yesterday and the front wheel is knocked a smidge out of line. Is that something that can be repaired or should I expect the repair shop to tell me I need a new wheel? A couple of the spokes are a bit bent and loose (hurley went into the wheel, dont ask....) and when you spin the wheel, it touches odd the brakeblock art a paarticular point.

If it was just the spokes that took the hit and not the rim I would say it is fixable. Fixing it yourself requires a certain amount of skill and possibly purchasing spokes of the exact length + spoke key. Search for videos on youtube.
Otherwise any half decent bike shop will give you a safety assessment and cost estimate.
If you are in dublin pm this very popular boardsie for repairs.
    Mr Skeffington.

As said Mr. Skeffington would sort it out or any good bike shop.

Either Bray or Dun Laoghaire would probably be your best bet, then. Have a look here-

I've no personal knowledge of any of those shops, but your problem sounds like something that should be fixable by any half-decent mechanic.

Any bike shop will be able to tell you if it is fixable. Some are, some aren't. Sometimes if it is bad you can get it back so that it is rideable but not 100%, up to you if you are happy with this or would want to get a new rim.

If it is only a "smidge" it is probably fixable.
