Avensis fuel filter

Has the 2003 new type avensis 1.6 petrol a fuel filter that needs to be changed or has it one of those everlasting ones in the fuel tank

From what I recall they are not to be replaced unless serious contamination of the fuel. I heard before you could replace at 100k miles but only if needed, it's located below the fuel tank and to replace is a pain in the hole.

Thanks Lads, appriaciate that. mabey the 224,000 miles on the clock has the filter fouled up.
