Squeaky / broken seat

I have a 06 Ford Focus Saloon. A little while back the seat base of the driver's seat started squeaking when going over bumps and sharp turns. The seat base has now collapsed slightly on the back left corner as if the spring or connection has broken or disconnected. It's internal to the base so I can't see exactly what has happened. It's now quite uncomfortable on my back, particularly for long trips as the seat base is leaning to the left.

Has anyone ever experienced this? And if so how was it fixed/ how much cost etc.

    Thanks.

I'm going to give this one quick bump in the hopes that you were all at Top Gear Live yesterday :D

I'd start by ringing a Ford dealer - it might be a known fault, in which case they'll perhaps show some goodwill. Other than that, you could take the seat out and have a look. I'd get it seen to immediately, though - a compromised drivers seat could be very dangerous in an accident.

Wouldn't suggest leaving it too long, especially if it drops more and while your driving. If you can get in and have a look yourself to see what the problem is you might be able to apply a temporary fix.

If its under warranty bring it back and see what they can do for you. It may require a replacement seat depending how bad it is, id look into picking one up from a breakers as opposed to factory new if possible, the price difference could be substantial.
