I was inspired by what someone else posted in the why you're sitting at home thread and started to wonder, which night do people see as the best night of the weekend, whether its to go out and get hammered or various other activities that people get up to at weekends, which is it?

Saturday night is my least favourite to go out, everywhere is packed, you have to queue for things and there's usually zero atmosphere.

I prefer Friday myself. The end of a hard week in college and there's nothing better than sitting down in a pub with the lads with a few pitchers on the table.
Drink and stumble down to the late bar for a few more drinks.
A chipper on the way home and a nice sleep.

Wake up Saturday and relax all day with a bit of football and then onto Subway for a bit of food.

Saturday's a much better day to shake off the hangover than Sunday especially when all you can think of is work/college the next day.

At the moment I'd say Friday, coz X Factor is on Saturday and Sunday. Only for another weekend though. After that it may alllll change.

Absolutely spot on.

Working Friday nights and Monday mornings (eliminating going out Sundays) makes Saturday my natural choice, but it is usually the best craic anyway!

Friday coz like people have said you know that you can spend your whole Saturday just chillin' and still have Sunday to do something. Plus people are on a 'I've just finished work for the week buzz' which makes everyone just a bit more good spirited!

I used to love 92 on a Sunday night back in the day (well 3/4 years ago!) but with the stupid closing times Sundays just ain't waht they used to be

Dont go out on Fridays anymore due to working on Saturdays but it is the best night. Most people have the whole wkend stretched out in the front of them. That thought makes the beer taste all the sweeter.

Work is no excuse to stop going out, I go out during the week nearly as much since I started working as when I was in college.

On topic, I like going out thursday nights too but overall I suppose it has to be saturday night. Going out sat night is a tradition and it always feels strange sitting in. I do like to have a few pint on a fri to wind of the week too though.

Sunday is a very popular night out around where i'm from. Its a nice night out but I almost always travel very early monday morning so cannot really go out sunday night.

For some reason things don't get going in clubs untill much later on fridays.
Also the crowd in most places tends to be older (nothing wrong with older people, but I do like it when most of the people in a place are around my own age).

That and friday night has some watchable tv, whereas saturday night tends to be pure shite.

For this reason I'd have to say Saturday is the best night of the week for going out. Sunday is normally a dreary day at the best of times so being hung-over in addition isn't a huge dissapointment.
